Well either that, or there is a tin-foil hat conspiracy going on.

    Showdowns.

I've failed the 1st Inning Program Showdown about 5 times now, and all 5 times I make it to the final boss.

4 of those five times I was down by 7 or 8. I failed a few what should have been easy missions and just came in way more down.

I always scored around 6 or 7 runs.....so I keep telling myself that I'll get there....

I do...and this time, I have a STACKED squad of lefties, all good contact/power and I have a few fast guys in case I need em. I complete ALL but one of the missions successfully this time and walk into the final challenge down by 1....I need 2 to finish off this program.

    You all guessed the result.

    Failed.

    Got 1 run only.

Now what angers me with this is the following.....I went deep into counts, I tired out the pitcher, I played smart. I had 3 Diamond Perks that were amazing (or at least I thought).....Inside Contact Increase, Outside Contact Increase and 2 Strike Contact Increase. But somehow.....I FINALLY get a guy to third base with 12 outs left.......took 5, yes 5, outs to score him......of those 5 outs, 3 were PERFECT/PERFECT that gave me 2 liners and 1 grounder.....that the computer made impossible catches on with the defense IN to prevent an infield hit to score a run. Another one was a 107 MPH liner right down the 1st base line that the 1st baseman caught like it was a can of corn in the outfield. He wasn't 10 feet behind the base, but 10 feet IN FRONT of it, at about 80 feet from home plate. Caught it like it was a drop of rain in the ocean. Meanwhile, my fielders in DD games (not multiplayer since I don't play multiplayer yet) let lazy fly balls drop and search at their feet for the ball while a 32 speed catcher has an inside the parker. I knew right there and then that I'd fail.

Finally scored him, got ANOTHER runner to second on a hit in the gap (not before the computer made 2 diving catches in the outfield) and subbed out that guy for Trevor Story for some speed. I stole 3rd. On a MEATBALL right down the middle with my PCI right there.....BANG! THERE IT GOES........straight up over the plate and down into the catchers glove. 1 out left. CRUSH A PERFECT/PERFECT into the gap.......DIVING CATCH AND HE GOT IT!

I almost threw my controller at the screen like Chapman throws heat.

I can't wait for this pandemic to end....I'm gonna go out to my local casino and play the tables. At least there I know the house has the advantage.

    bows head in shame

Me too. My pitches either go right over the middle or a foot outside. Magically happens when I get the lead. Whatever. On a pain pill and feeling good.

Painful one for sure but what were you thinking trying to steal third?!

Had to get him there so I could score that winning run on a fly ball. Had 2 out left. Was desperate.

I mean I got him to third successfully in the end. Also, with the infield being in, it would have given me a better chance to score on a hard grounder or a blooper.

This is the first year I’ve ever thought “this game sucks”. Which really pisses me off because I’m stuck at home with nothing else to do.

I just faced Oswalt and physically could not react to the pitches. Guy wanted a win badly, brought in Kluber after Oswalt. Felt like the 6 runs was more luck than skill. I feel like I was hitting HOF on the event better. Oh, I was.

Took me about 10 goes to get AL West, and right now I've failed AL East 9 times - and have only gotten past the first mini boss (Sale) once.
I aint a great player, but I am better than that.

Yeah I’ve played since ‘16 and I’d say only ‘18 was worse so far. ‘19 was actually pretty good in retrospect, only the good squared up line outs and inaccurate pitching let it down. ‘19 had the best content by a mile, but I’d say ‘17 had the best gameplay, especially in terms of pitching. ‘18 was woeful, ‘16 was good but light on content and ‘20 looks to be just above ‘18, but below ‘16, ‘17 and ‘19 for sure.
The gameplay isn’t as good this year, content isn’t as good so far this year (using the content available after a month in ‘19 as a comparison to what’s available right now in ‘20) and although it’s not as bad as ‘18 - And I really hope nothing ever will be, with the softball pitches, awful content and paywalls - it really ought to be better than it is.

    UPDATE

This weekend, I tried 1st Inning Showdown again. Failed the first time, but finally succeded the 2nd time and completed it.

I went into the finale Showdown down 10-15 and honestly, I could have gone in down 0-15 and I would have succeded.

The difference? I think the pitcher. In all my other attemps, I faced off against Roy Oswalt who is by far a much harder pitcher to face than Kenley Jansen who I faced off this time. I noticed that his energy dropped much faster than Oswalt, and I think the fact that he is a closer and has a much lower stamina rating played a huge part in that (I could be wrong though).

So there we go. I am no longer trash. I've moved up to worthless!!! 🙂

Bring on the 2nd Inning Showdown! (groan)

Showdown either goes by super easy or a pita for me. There is no middle ground. I blow right thru it or fail before the end. I’ve beat the division ones numerous times but I’ve lost on the 1st inning one 4 times at least

I think it took me like 30 times to complete the 1st inning showdown, I kept trying cause I was making stubs off of it. I eventually did it and it is a great feeling when you do get it done. I would not play for days on that and then go back to it just for the stars it gives you I wanted to complete it.
