Set 2 program bosses

So excited for these, I don't even know who i'm taking first but i know I want that Utley, Sizemore and Donaldson but they all look amazing.

This confuses me. Two different Rivera cards. Lower rated is Core and can be used ALL YEAR. Higher rates is a Set 2 which becomes 'obsolete' in a few months.

I could change my mind as soon as I get my first pack but as it stands, I think my first pick would be Utley. I really like his swing.

Maddux -
Maddux’s PAR will be the size of a pea. He’s my best pitcher every year. He’s my definite 1st pick

I doubt there are many people who would waste their one wildcard spot on a reliever with cards like Babe Ruth, Chipper Jones, Griffey Jr, Mike Trout, Ohtani, etc.
Sure, he technically won't be irrelevant, but no one will be using him outside of modes where you can use any set.
That being said, I don't get the confusion from freezeoff. Of course the lower tier card would be core, and therefore usable all year. If they made every player's best card a core card, then why even bother introducing sets in the first place?

I think for me its Donaldson depending on his stats.
Mainly because I'm a Blue Jays fan and Canadian so I have to get him.
Also Rivera and Utley I feel like are my 2nd and 3rd choice perhaps but Utley could be number 1 if his stats are solid since I need a good 2nd baseman.
I love Rivera in this game a lot like many do, but I was expecting either him or Aroldis Chapman to come this season tbh.
I'd say Aroldis will be a Set 3-4 or something like that. -
Does Utley come with the "dirty player/cheap shot" trait? LMAO. Dude was ranked by MLB players as the 2nd dirtiest player in the game when he was active. Doesn't make him a bad card though but I wouldn't be picking his card personally, just like in Madden I won't use Vick. Also why I won't use Machado in The Show.

Not sure why everyone keeps using the word "obsolete" or complains about not being able to use a card once that Set cycles out... Wild Card still exist, and you can still use the "expired" Sets in most other modes just not in Ranked outside of Wild Card.
Also I'm going Rivera, Donaldson (for my Cover Athlete team, still need that Howard btw), Maddux, Sizemore and way last and only if I get a 5th Boss pack (not gonna break my neck to do it though)... Utley

I'm interested in seeing if a TA 1 hitting captain will work in the WC spot. Gives you a little flexibility hopefully.

Yes, I know about the Wild Card. What I meant is from what I've read is you can still use 'expired' cards, in certain offline modes, but you won't earn and PXP with them. Is that just for 'active' programs or all programs?
Meaning if I want to use the 97 Rivera after Set 2 is 'over', which I think is when Set 4 comes out, does that mean if he is my Closer, I can no longer earn any PXP with him that goes towards a program?

MadduxMaddux is the one I would want for Nostalgia. I'd have to see the stats though to know who I would take.
The Cardinals we have seen so far have not overly excited me. I am happy to see the McGwire captain card because prices have kept me from getting the Musial captain card. Torre has just never been a favorite of mine, either in real life of the game.
