Matt Carpenter question?

So I just acquired Topps Now Matt Carpenter from the event. I put him in my Topps Now lineup with captain Anthony Rendon and every card got a boost except Matt Carpenter. Has this happened to anyone else?

Because that Tops Now card isn’t an April card from this year I don’t believe! Can someone else check and clarify?
Edit: That card is from April 2018. That captains card is for this years April TN I’m pretty sure.

Ok that makes sense. However the Lourdes Gourriel card gets a boost and it’s from another year. I thought Rendon was simply a TN captain. Not an April TN captain?

No he is an April TN captain. It says on his card.

No he is an April TN captain. It says on his card.
Ok I see that now. The Gourriel card is from April of ‘18, as is the Carpenter card. Gourriel gets a boost, but Carpenter does not. I’m just not understanding why?

Probably because its only for players in the current Topps Now program. The Gurriel is, the Carpenter isn't.

Carp has a great swing and he’s one of my favorite players but without the boost, I’m not using him. Bummer.

No, you’re right, I believe that the Carpenter card should get that boost as well if the Guriell (spelling not sure) card is also getting that boost. The program shouldn’t matter and does make it confusing when trying to build that squad. It’s definitely confusing and kind of mixed messaging if you ask me.

Some people just feel the need to instigate others. All he needed to say was that the card specifically says something. Everything after that was to illicit/provoke negative feedback in response to his. This behavior is eerily similar to people with diagnosed NPD.

Rendon is the April TN hitters captain, his boost is for the hitters from that program. Carpenter isn’t part of the program, he’s an event reward.

I just remember the card saying April TN captain. Haven’t actually looked at it after getting it in the program because I will never actually use the card. So no I didn’t look at it any more than just a quick glance. You on the other hand didn’t need to make the snarky comment the followed your statement. Just politely pointing out what the card actually said would have sufficed and we all would have been fine with that response and the thread probably dies at that point because all questions would have been answered to the OP’s satisfaction. Instead you decided to interject the second part of your comment and rile others up. Like I said before that is behavior you see in people with NPD.

Same reasoning as to why I don't understand stand that Rendon and Musgrave aren't eligible for the event. But Santana and the other pitcher (drawing a blank on name) are eligible. They weren't at first until SDS changes it; but why not add Rendon and Musgrave? All for are TN cards.

I’ve looked at the Caroenter card. It looks EXACTLY the same as the Gourriel card. There is nothing on the Carpenter card that specifically says it’s NOT part of the program. The ONLY way you would know that is by going into the Topps Now program to see that it’s not there.

My point in all this is by not giving Carp a boost, I doubt anyone will use him. If they follow suit, May will have its own TN captain and the TN cards for May will get a boost from that captain. But Carp will not get a boost from anyone. Just doesn’t make sense.

He’s an April Topps Now event reward for an event that uses April Topps now players that can all be boosted, but Carpenter can not be boosted. It makes absolutely no sense at all!!
