Does anybody know how sds comes up with each player’s speed attribute? Is actual hard data used? Or is it impression/opinion/reputation based?

Shockingly every attribute in the game is hard data and they do a pretty job transferring them IMO. I do believe they changed the data they use (which also never gets released because of roster updates) because there are huge difference than previous years for some players.
Some people do eventually discover the attributes they use tho. One would come here and give update predictions and get flamed for trying to boost his investments lmao.

Speed rating is based on statcast sprint speed data, confirmed by devs in a stream.
the ratings for fielding reaction and both arm attributes comes from statcast data also.
