Sorry if i am late but Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire in the game? That's it take my money (even though I use game pass). If these two are in game then you HAVE to put Barry Bonds or at someone like A-Rod or Clemens at some point maybe not this year but next year but who knows.
A-Rod and Clemens, sure but Bonds took ownership of his name and likeness in 2003 so all negotiations go directly through him. As of now, there are two ways to look at this.
-
SDS has never even contacted him because of the whole steroid thing (a point negated by the fact that Sosa and McGwire are in this year).
-
His asking price is too high.
Depending in the price I feel like Bonds would be quite lucrative to have in the game.
For us, he would be great to have in the game. But lets be real, the people who buy The Show more than likely buy it every year. This game does around 1.3 to 2 million a year. Is Bonds REALLY gonna add a few million more sales? That might not be worth the risk for SDS to take if his asking price is too high.
-
-
Bonds would probably be super expensive.

It's not just about new sales, there's also revenue growth through retained customers.
Example 1: my younger brother (32yo) plays the show each year, not a great deal, and a good amount. He certainly doesn't spend a dime on the game. When he saw Sosa and McGwire he stated "i will grind the (nsfw) out this game and I'll probably spend money on stubs." I know him, he'll spend money on stubs.
Example 2: I buy the $100 version of the games. I like the perks and my $ is like a sacrifice to the game gods for putting TS on xbox. I do not spend money on stubbs though. But now? Wright, Sosa, McGwire? Take. My. Money.
In both examples two retained players are spending additional money. I do not think either situation is that unique. If 50,000 people spend just $25, they've added $1.25m to the revenue stream.

I’m pretty sure Bonds was supposed to be in either ‘15 or ‘16 and pulled out at the last minute. That is why we had “Reggie Stocker” in the game.

Looks like I'm in the minority here but so far everything I've seen has me pumped... until I saw these two players added. This will now pave the way for the "others" to be added. Aaron Judges home run chase this year shows exactly what these players did to the game. They put those records out of reach of players not chemically enhanced, therefore what should have been the breaking of the all time home run record "only" broke the AL record. Whatever...just my view

I even thought SDS would put Roger Maris in the game but that's unlikely

I personally wish none of the HR record cheaters were in the game. I can' t forget them lying in court on TV, or just how they went along with it for so long. I felt personally cheated, even though I know how silly that sounds

I'm with ya , it takes away from Ruth,Judge and Aaron, what they accomplished.

I was in my 20's in Chicago when Sosa was roided to the gills. Fun times, but I'd prefer guys like him not be in the game, UNLESS...
...SDS does franchise eras like 2K did this year. That would be crazy. Take over a team at the start of the steroid era, then suffer as the hammer comes down...lol.
Also, if Sosa's in the game then I want a moment to be when Glenallen Hill hit a ball onto the ROOF across the street from Wrigley. If you haven't seen that, check it out. It's the sickest steroid era moment this side of Clemens throwing jagged wood at Piazza.

Hate to be THAT GUY, but no one ever "lied in court on TV".
Did they lie in court? Bonds ... maybe ... but that wasn't on TV.
Did they lie on TV? Possibly ... though that was a Congressional hearing and not court. And their answers, while evasive and maddening, definitely didn't rise to the level of "lie", otherwise they would have been charged w/ perjury before Congress."I'm not here to talk about the past" may not be satisfactory to the fans, but it's not lying.

It’s complicated with the steroid guys. If baseball had a hard stance from the beginning and stuck to it I would be like “yah, keep ‘em out of the games/HOF” however Major League Baseball sat back and enjoyed the fat stacks of cash that all the HRs were bringing in. For me the hypocrisy of the MLB regarding the whole thing has made me sympathetic towards the guys who used steroids. Also too many people think steroids is a magical “be great at baseball” button but there where plenty of guys who were juicing and still couldn’t make it so there is still a lot of skill involved.

Bud Selig knew it was going on but did nothing. He saw that the steroid guys were saving the game of baseball after the 94 strike by filling the stands with the HR streaks. Ironically he is in the HOF and the players suspected of using are cast away like dirt. Make no mistake that baseball is all about money PERIOD. Look at Manfred with all his stupid new rules trying to shorten game times. The biggest delay to games is the commercial breaks between innings where baseball gets paid big dollars by advertisers. You think for a minute they are going to lose that? Nobody will admit that though. I say put all of the users in the game. Its just a video game.

You do realize who else you'd be excluding, right?
Aaron, Mantle, Mays ... gone!

Amphetamines aren't steroids. There are levels to this.
The other guy said "HR record cheaters," so fair enough on your part.
I'll update it to "steroid users during the steroid era."

Does this mean Pete Rose is not far behind?
