Cover reveal on Monday...

They're just throwing people off with this color scheme stuff to get people to speculate and talk on social. I can totally see a scenario where the cover athlete doesn't have any correlation with these colors whatsoever. I know everyone is high on Jazz Chisholm for all reasons mentioned, but tbh that would be such a weird choice at this stage of his young career. But then again they did put Yasiel Puig on the cover too so who knows. My money is not on Jazz tho.
-
People are getting emails that have different color scheme graphics and background shapes. If we could get all of the different graphics together and assemble them like a puzzle????
Since the game isn't exciting to think about lately, at least this is.
-
All due respect to Jazz, but he in no way deserves the cover. Hopefully it’s not him. But then again, it really doesn’t matter.
-
I wouldn't be surprised with either Julio/Judge or especially Trout if he is contractually eligible. The one name though I keep hearing and just don't understand is Jazz Chisholm.
Cool dude for sure, but if that's all it takes then Nick Swisher should've been on the cover a few times as well.

Jazz Chisholm for cover
I'll be shocked if they give it to someone who only played 60 games and didn't play a game after June.
He's already worked with SDS and is a big fan of this game. Its the easiest route for SDS to go

Maybe easy, but the main question is not about easy but about who they think will move copies to the public. While most of us here are buying regardless of the cover athlete there will be others who are swayed by it.
I'm not saying it can't be Jazz, just that I would be surprised. Also, I am not sure they would have tipped it by releasing that video of Jazz visiting their office earlier this year.

I don't think Jazz is the best choice, I just think it's the way they will go. I also don't think who is on the cover has even the slightest correlation with game sales either. Javy Baez wasn't even remotely close to the best cover athlete choice for MLB 20, and that game did just fine. Julio is probably the correct choice, but Jazz is equally as likely as any of Julio, Judge, Mookie, Acuna, Soto, whoever

I hope it's a Brave, Marlin, Nat, and Phillie, to jinx those NL East foes. LFGM!
Id counter with Verlander but the Mets dont really need extra jinx

Good thing I’m passing this year if it’s Jazz. He’s ok but not deserving. I’ll be back when it’s Next Gen only. I bought to many versions of this copy and paste game.

Im just throwing it out there but maybe Yordan Alvarez?

What I really hope is that SDS takes a massive hit in sales and finally understand that pretty cards will not keep the community happy… gameplay needs work, a lot of it.

And I hope that some billionaire will give me a million dollars. We can all hope for all kinds of unrealistic things.

I mean the game is in a REALLY bad place right now. Player count is non-existing. Twitch viewers are at an all-time low and have been for months. These are all factors that should really entice them to overhaul the game. But then again, it is SDS yeah so who knows.

New clue-High Voltage.
„High Voltage“ was the first AC/DC-album and an album of the Jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris.
Folks … first of all: I think, the cover athlete does not matter at all.
Maybe it is someone whose licensing is cheap (more money to earn or for devs).
Maybe it is not Julio, because SDS chooses his cover athlete way ahead. I watched a lot of the Shohei-cover-videos. In one of them, they said, that they had the shohei art work in summer …
To me, therefore it is extremly possible that it is not the ROTY but another one …I think, it is Jazz … he was there 8 months ago (the video got released on May 21. He is kind of a community favorite and flashy enough to do commercials

I agree the cover athlete doesn’t mean much other than… the new game is finally on its way and news is being released. Jazz is fine, just really hasn’t done much yet. But like you said, that really doesn’t matter much.
I’d like to campaign for Team Affinity. Bring it back.

I'll reiterate that the cover athlete does not matter one bit for those for those of us who buy it year in and year out. There was a time when it certainly mattered more, back in the days when people actually went into stores and browsed games. A recognizable cover athlete made a difference.

I obviously don't know what their budget is but Ohtani, Tatis Jr, Harper, Judge and Griffey do not seem like they have cut corners when it comes to licensing.

The licensing hardly costs them money because it's part of the MLBPA deal. It would if the cover athlete would be a legend, since they're not in the MLBPA licensing deal. If anything it's just a kind gesture towards the player in question to grow their status and name even further.

I highly doubt that the MLBPA licensing allows them to make any player in the league their cover athlete and use them in all their marketing and advertising. If so then we would have had Trout or even Pujols by now.

I think they get a small percentage of the amount of copies sold. Like royalties. That number will be negotiated, and obviously the more star power an athlete has (like Mike Trout) the higher they want that number to be.
