Strategy for LOTF conquests

These are really giving me trouble. Is the strategy now that you must reduce the troops in the strongholds before conquering them? (Otherwise it seems the strongholds and everything else gets stronger.)

Just play how you would normally play. It’s not hard. They’re just annoyingly aggressive so you can’t breeze through simming territories.

I don't normally steal unless I absolutely have to but I used that as a strategy and told myself, I kinda want to stretch out the content anyway so I don't run out. I would focus on stealing for a few turns early. That's just me.

I hate stealing fans when I don't have to. On this one, I wish I had stolen them from the first team. I ended up playing them all on veteran, but they they still required 80+ fans to play veteran. I think I finished around turn 55-60. Bad strategy, but done.
Edit: accidentally put legend instead of veteran. (just a little difference)

The best strategy is to lose.
Seriously.
I played the Cubs 99-25 on Veteran and lost. The next game was 98-24. On Rookie. Smoked’em!

The way I normally play would be to boost up the fans so I could play rookie level. But if you do that, they all seem to get stronger. So I’m starting over and trying to steal fans with a veteran level challenge and then go after the stronghold after that. I suspect it should get easier as I conquer a few more strongholds. That’s the only way I can see to do it.

I played most on veteran. Two on rookie, Detroit and Milwaukee each took someone else's stronghold.

I said this in another thread….
I’m like on turn 44 on the central map. And about halfway thru. Spent many turns simply reinforcing with no other moves.

I am like you. I normally play everything on rookie after building up my reinforcments. Steal on Veteran or All Star if you are up for it and after you take the first stronghold you should be able to slowly take over the map. If their strongholds build up past 25, just keep reinforcing and when you are next to their stronghold, they will attack. Or like Save Farris said, lose and they'll drop.

My strategy for the map being release Fri: if it plays anything like the last two maps, this program, will be to turn off the console and wait until the new program drops.

Then what will you complain about?

Maps were easy. I'm caught up with every program including Showdown (which was easy) and done with all the Topps Now moments. Just waiting for the West Map

Take all the empty spots and just skip turns to the reinforce stage. Once over 50 fans you can pretty much take any stronghold on rookie. Don't waste time stealing fans as it is not an objective. Its basically the same strategy as every other conquest, just don't get too concerned when the CPU takes one or two of your territories.

How do you guys feel about how stronghold games play? I know the sliders are always tweaked for these games to make them more sweaty, and it’s nothing new.
So far this year though, I find it a bit ridiculous. You can clearly tell when the cpu is going to start a comeback. Get ahead with a fresh reliever, but you’ll give up a bloop single and he’ll steal second. Suddenly you cannot locate a pitch and he will take third on a passed ball. You know what is coming, and three batters in, you are going back to the pen.
I know this stuff happens in baseball but I don’t actually enjoy how forced it is in these stronghold games.
Am I alone? Do you guys enjoy this type of programming? I mean it must be in the game because we like it, right?
