Market Value: SP 87 Michael Kopech vs. SP 87 Forrest Whitley
-
Both are prospect diamond 87 rated cards. Their attributes are pretty comparable across the board. Only difference I notice is that Kopech has 4SFB and 2SFB averaging 99mph and 96mph respectively, vs. Whitley with Sinker and Cutter averaging 95mph and 93mph respectively which overall doesn't seem like it's that significant.
I was considering purchasing one of these pitchers, but wanted to have a better understanding of where the value of $20k+ difference resides. Can anyone share some insight or their opinion on why SP Kopech is more than double in value est. $46k vs. SP Whitley est. value $22k?

I think Kopech has the outlier quirk and Whitley doesn't.

velocity, Kopech throws 100+

Whitley will play better on HOF+ I feel like. Hard to square up a moving fastball (Cutter/Sinker)

have to say, I am not a big fan of the outlier perk, or at least I don't see any better results with pitchers who have it, could just be me though.

Yeah, this. People hear that a guy throws 102 and go into a frenzy about it. Whitley is harder for me to hit, to be honest.

Still don't understand the justification and gap in cost difference and it seems that Whitley would obviously be the better valued purchase. Thanks for the feedback guys.

im normally cheap but kopech is worth every stub because he has outlier.

I sold Kopech for Whitley, Manning and Keller...best move I ever made. Manning and Keller are really good cards at their price, at least for whats available right now. I am still trying to figure out how to pitch with Whitley.

Whitley is so much better online because of his pitch selection. I’ll take 95-98mph sinkers and 93-96 mph cutters with a slower changeup and curveball than a straight 100mph fastball. I have no issues hitting fastballs online, and most of the players I play don’t either. Plus, I think those higher Velo sinkers look like they come in faster than high velo 4seams.

Kopech has outlier and it’s deadly. Very tough to hit if the player knows what they’re doing

Good luck catching up to Kopech's FB on HOF and legend.

Kopech 100%
