Lost ability to hit and need help
-
Sorry, this is going to be a long one. I’m legitimately asking for advice, because at this point I’ve tried all the obvious I feel. I’d say I’m a above average player, made WS in past titles, started this year 22-2, and since about Memorial Day I’ve legit lost my ability to hit while playing BR, events, or RS. I was a couple wins away from WS in May, and since then dropped down into the 400’s. I get back to 700’s and then just take L after L. When controlling my PCI, either just jamming it from one extreme to the other or my PCI will be in the exact opposite corner from the pitch. I’ve gone into practice mode, challenge of the week, play against the CPU, vs Friends, or even co-op. The problem doesn’t happen or as badly, and I still play to my level or fairly close. I’m not playing stressed… or at least feel like I’m not. At this point I’m looking for any real advice, because other then stepping away for a few weeks to month, I’m not sure what else to do since I can’t seem to play my way out of it. Thanks in advance.

Try switching your hitting view. Maybe it will provide a spark

mate - happens to the best of us don't worry about it - you could be tired, long day, stuff on your mind etc. - one thing i would try first is psychology - only play when you have at least 1 hour of game time no interruptions - before you play, get your head in the game, do a couple events or warm up stuff before any RS - mix up your pitching and batting cameras if you are not feeling good - be relaxed and zen vibe when playing - be super patient at the dish and wait for your pitch - i hope this helps and good luck out there

No joke, take a deep breath in and out when the pitcher is going through the windup. Whenever I start struggling I go back to this and can snap out of the slump pretty quickly. If it doesn't work I turn off the game and do something else for a little bit and come back and try again

I’m not the greatest hitter but I found it staying back and waiting a little longer on the pitch does wonders. My problem was I was swinging like everything was a fastball. You can’t do that (duh!) if the pitcher throws you a curveball or breaking ball. Just be patient.

One other option is to turn the pci off. Sounds crazy but sometimes when I slump it’s because my eyes are getting distracted by the pci and I don’t focus on the ball. There are some pitchers on legend where I will turn it off no matter how I’m playing so I can really focus in on release.

Ive seen people say turning off PCI works for them. I haven't tried it tbh but I can understand that removing that visual seeing where it is on the screen may help you follow the ball better.
I'd also consider sitting on a particular part of the zone, In or Out/Up or down...depending on what your struggling to cover and who youre facing. May end up starting slow and may not always work if the person pitching is good and changing up their sequences but over a longer game like a RS game, you'll notice patterns and a players go-to pitch. Also sometimes helps get favorable counts on close pitches since you're not tempted to swing.

I have done this and it absolutely works.

I turn the outer and inner rings to fade and it made a big difference. Sometimes just that split second of the PCI blocking the ball messes up the timing. I also switch my preferred camera angle for a couple games and when you switch back it looks fresh again. Seeing the same camera angle and doing the same bad habit over and over again is tough to turn around on its own.

Turn off the pci… since i have done that i have been on fire. I am the highest ive ever been at 873… hopefully make ws for the first time. With pci off i find myself focusing on nothing but the ball. Give it a try my man, because i am never turning it back on

Like in real ball, many times people hit a rough patch and start trying to reinvent there swing, typically leading to more frustration. So many times if you just recommit to core fundamentals it doesn't take long before you find what's causing the issue. Gotta see the ball, and have good timing to hit. This is great advice and has worked for me before. Henry Dorfmans who was hired by the A's to be there mental coach talked extensively about getting back to basics. He was the first team psychologist when he was brought on by the A's. Now all teams have one. He was a fascinating guy and anyone who enjoys the mental side of baseball should check him out. I enjoyed the stories about his interaction with players in a book I read a while back, The Mental Approach To Hitting.
Once the pci is removed all that is left is to find the pitchers release point, you will naturally move the joystick to the ball and have your hitting back in no time. -
I’ve lost the ability to do anything in this game. Can’t hit. Can’t pitch. Can’t field. Been trying to grind BR for 5 hrs today. I’ve gained pretty much nothing. No wins. Maybe 5 runs. I’m so irritated and frustrated with this.
Like I know I’m not good. But I can’t even get a ground ball through the infield when ever ball my opponents hit finds grass
