Regarding Future Stars......

After reading post after post and comment after comment, I am genuinely curious why some of you are beyond butthurt about this Future Star program? Some of you seem legitimately offended that SDS would do this....and for the sake of me I don't understand it.
It's 2022. If people aren't beyond butthurt about something then they feel like they aren't contributing to society. I have a strong suspicion that no one is truly as upset as they claim. But social media has taught everyone that, in order to cut through all the noise, they have to shout the loudest, be the most dramatic, and have the most extreme opinion or else it will get lost in the shuffle.
I imagine most of the people who post on here about how much they hate FS and how it makes them want to quit the game actually fire up the PlayStation, see the FS cards, and think "eh, not for me" and just move on with their lives.

This program would have been perfect for November/December after the real season. But for June, should have went with some big leaugers and legends.
I can definitely see that argument, as it may keep specific players involved once the season ends. On the flip side, over the next month or two youre going to start hearing alot about these guys they dropped getting promoted/called up....I guess it's damned if you do damned if you dont
-
Good points OP. I definitely don't get the outrage. My only issue is that I'm not knowledgeable about the minor leagues and prospects so I have never heard of 90% of these players. But that's my fault. It's just not as exciting when you don't know the players, but so far, I've enjoyed the program and I agree, we aren't even midway through the season, better now than in a few months.

And then the complaints are "why release a bunch of unusable cards, I already have Griffey/Mantle etc.

or maybe at release in place of the FF program, right in the middle of spring training when a lot of these guys are in big league camps/ ST games and getting talked about. then the FF program now.

I'm only semi-knowledgeable about minor leaguers, but for the last few years I have looked at the FS and Prospects cards as a learning opportunity and a way to get excited about the next generation of ballplayers. I'm not a Rangers fan, but I live in Fort Worth so I go to a lot of Rangers games. Thanks to MLB: TS, I was really excited to see Sam Huff after he got called up a few weeks ago, and I got to see Ezequial Duran have a couple timely hits last night.
So I guess it's just cool to get the excitement from both angles. I grew up idolizing Frank and Griffey and Gwynn and Brett, so I am very excited to use those cards every year. And now that I've been having a blast using Nick Pratto and Michael Toglia and Henry Davis, I am going to be excited to see them make it to the big leagues. People need to chillax and remind themselves that it's OK to be happy.
People just love to complain. If SDS sent everyone 20 bucks, people would complain about the way they folded the bill.

ppl get butthurt over their prediction of guys that havent played in the mlb yet but are completely fine with a 5'2 created player that is 400lbs and who has max stats on their team playing ss and batting third.
I love future stars its a lot of fun and nice to see some guys I wouldnt of known about get called up and you know some of the hype beyond say an adley ruschman
-
I think they should've switched the FOTF and the FS program around.
Yes, you would have people complaining about using unknown players right off the bat; but it would also help with how they are rated.
FS should've been the 88s and the FOTF around 89-90.
Heck, they could've made the FS 80-84s and then the FOTF 85-88s.
I would've even liked to see an Evolution type program with these guys.

Exactly.... they will complain no matter what month it is. I like it better early, saving the higher overalls for legends. I haven't even used any of them yet, but this program has been great to make stubs to finish the LS collection. I now only need Trout, Judge, and Ramirez. If I can finish this within the next month.... it will be the earliest I've gotten it done.

To paraphrase Woody Allen:
“There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about MLBTS - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly.”

The future stars hate club does this every year. It will pass. It's no more outrage than normal imo

Wait, what. they sent us $20? I didnt get mine
-
i just don’t want to play with/against a bunch of players i don’t really know or recognize. that’s all. additionally, getting Volpe/Witt/Ruschman etc. (the actual top recognizable prospects) as 90’s, and then secondary org prospects as the “Future” also sucks
-
It’s more the fact since they started doing this about 6 people have enjoyed it and they still do it year after year when the game is still new and exciting.
Then there is the argument that these cards should be nowhere near legendary seasons from legendary players but they are.
Who’s Mike Schmidt? That guy will never be the third baseman every future star is apparently going to be, not even in his best season ever. You know MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, +1.000 OPS….yeah step aside dude, Masyn Winn is here! Post season Halladay, HaAAAaaaa don’t make me laugh, that guy will never amount to Bobby Miller.
These should be 84 golds that accompany the Face of the franchise cards we got at the start, not an excuse for them to take a month off of content two months into the game.
Every complaint is justified. It’s boring content nobody cares about except the 6 guys that say everything SDS does is amazing. SDS can literally say they got rid of TA, put it in a program, make you pay for half of it and they still say it’s a great idea that SaVed ThE gaMe.
-
I’m just wondering what the program will do with them. They didn’t go for all this trouble for nothing. And I love the fact that Joey Bart is one of them. He just got sent to the minors for striking out too much. But he’s still good in the game.

I was excited when these came out, added several players that come from Texas. Really helped fill out my players from Texas team, just a thing I like to do seeing what states players are from. California, Florida and Texas can fill out solid rosters.

There’s no pleasing everyone and if this isn’t you cup of tea just move on after it’s over. Gamers appetite for content has created this. A lot of us consume and push through these programs every month. And we expect another one after another one. Well it’s up to SDS to figure out a way to dish out content and try to keep it fresh.
So would you rather have no program or this program? I’d rather have this program
-
I personally like the future stars program. I never play with the same lineup more than few days anyway so this gives me a chance to test quite a few new players. I found a few gems too.
-
I'm not the biggest fan of the program. Would I rather have a Griffey or even a Diamond Jason Heyward right now, yeah I would. But I don't see the need to come on here and complain and pout about it.
I've just been giving this program the how we doin keep it movin treatment and have sold every card I've gotten, except Crow-Armstrong and just taken the stubs and ran.
And I also don't understand the people who complain about the ratings of these cards. Carlos Beltran from a few years back seems to be regarded as the best card ever and I don't think anyone is confusing him with any of the all time greats.
-
I'll tell you one reason why the FS program is legit (and fun). No matter how well or how badly I do with them, there's no track record clouding up the issue. I read a post earlier today where Maddux's card was being ribbed for being 'not good' on AS. This is certainly my experience with certain Legend cards (not necessarily that one, as I don't have it) and it's a bit of a letdown to use a legend and get shelled / whiff a bunch. When I use Pedro Martinez, I want that lethal darting changeup, but instead (maybe because I can't get out of AS) I get to throw a beachball. I've no such hang-ups with the FS players. I don't have a clue about these guys and I love that. If I get shelled I don't have a tendency to think, wow Maddux would never have given up three moonshots in a row.
