Adley or Gary Carter?
-
I could not hit with Carter. He is very all or nothing, with more nothings. Adley is the most balanced. Switch hitter, defense, and I think Adley has better speed. Statwise Carter is dominant, he is reallyngood in miniseasons, but online I'm taking Adley. Just need one more cover athlete and them Joe is mine. Going to see how he stacks up.

I would personally take the switch hitter with more equal splits and better defense, but if you mostly play on All-Star, power is king so I’d take Carter in that scenario. If you’re mostly in the HOF/Legend range, definitely Adley.
I can say that Trevor Story’s bad contact vs Right hasn’t been an issue for me so far.
Yeah right now Aldley is in and Carter is a left specialist bench bat. Probably keep it this way. Thanks.
Man, this was my first event qnd it was funny seeing everyone with Adley. That'll change in 2 days. I agree Carter is a monster offline but online, I think Adleyay have it.

Taylor Ward. Great swing and reverse splits.
Carter's swing is terrible every year, don't use him. Bench bat at best with mediocre defense.
If you don't want to use Ward because of the defense then go Adley > Carter. Switch hitting, great defense, solid hitting attributes vs. both sides. -
Switch hitters rule the world.

Carter's sig last year was awful. I don't own his card this year, but in mini-seasons, he throws out all my stealing baserunners!
Just started to hit with Adley this year. Finally. -

Which one do you play better with?
I don't buy into that generally. The cards are going to play to their stats, modified by my performance, but that's equal across them all. I'm going to play better with the better card.
That being said, these cards are [censored] close. Carter has far better contact L, Power L & R, and elite vision. He also has a good bit more speed. But his contact R is seriously lacking, his defense is slightly worse, and Adley switch hits. I think if Adley didn't switch or Carter had like 85 contact R it would be a much easier decision.
I don’t agree with that line of thinking. You can have a card with amazing attributes that you just can’t hit with and vice versa. My best hitter this year so far is FOTF Devers and I have plenty of cards on my team with better attributes.
I really haven’t used Carter this year, but I’d choose the Adley card over him any day. Has a good swing and being a switch hitter makes him even more valuable.

Gary Carter is pretty good!

Devers has been fantastic and is lining up to be my first p5 of 22. Trout is still king tho.

Haven't used Carter yet this year and generally don't care for his swing. Adley was a beast last year for me but has been just passable this year. Starting to like Ward more for his bat and speed. And I think 90 Murphy and 90 Realmuto are both underrated and good choices as well.

I disagree. I'm not particularly great at the game but I've been playing since 08 and I've NEVER noticed some crappy player having a "great swing" or anything of the sort. Over time with enough at bats the cards will play to their attributes. It is different with different users. For example a card with very low vision could be unusable for a bad player and mash with someone who's very skilled with the PCI. But given the same user, cards will eventually play to their attributes.
And I think you're just underselling Devers. I got P5 with him a long time ago, well over 100 HRs. At P4 you're looking at 93 contact R and 110 power R, with plus vision. I'm not sure you have "plenty of cards" that are better than him. It really doesn't even get much better at all. Even if you had 125 contact and 125 power that could take some time to be clearly ahead of 93/110. It wouldn't be that absurd for Devers to outperform him over 50 or even 100 at bats or more. That wouldn't mean that 125 guy has a bad swing or Raffy had a great swing or that YOU personally are better or worse with one or the other, that's just how statistics work.
