Story has been great last 15 days. Altuve still has been much better for the Month. Better than Alonzo too.

But Aaron Judge has easily been best.

Best yes, but I would not say easily. His power numbers are extremely impressive for the month but Goldschmidt has hit for a higher average, driven in more runs and has a higher OBP. Betts has more runs scored.

So I won't argue that Judge has been the best but I think using the term "easily" is a stretch. It all depends on what stats you are concentrating on.

I didnt look at Goldy or Betts because they are NL teams, and was just comparing guys to the OP mentioned Story in the AL. I did mention Alonso though because someone mentioned him ahead of me. But yes, Goldy and Betts are looking good in the NL as well.

There are 8 other players with as many or more HRs than Story. All but one of them are hitting for better average.
7 of them have a higher WRC
7 of them have a higher OPS

Power wise and RBI wise he is doing great this month but a POTM with a .229 BA? Do we really want a POTM card with 60 contact?

It is potm.... not poty. He started out otrocious and is on fire for the last week or so. You can't use his season avg. against him for potm. Still a week left, and if he stays hot like he has the last 8 games for another week... it will be tough to argue he isn't the best player this month.

I'm not. He is batting .237 in May. He is 18 for 76 in May. He has been hitting .333 in the last 7 days so that has helped, otherwise it would be lower than .237.

Goldschmidt is on fire the last 15 games. Problem is he is another 1st baseman so I think that eliminates him, same with Alonso. Betts would be nice but he already has a mid 90 diamond, but he would still be a popular choice with position flexibility. I think they will go with Story. I know he just got a 91 but you are looking at a 95 (maybe 96 if they go crazy) at 2b. I think most people would take that. If they use his monthly average instead of season he could easily get 90s contact both sides with 110s power both sides and throw in some speed. Yes please.

I've said it before, that as much as I know that the vast majority don't want another 1B, I hope they don't exclude a worthy candidate because of their position. I think they already put enough limits on the POTM card for other reasons so I don't think they should add even more restrictions.

As for Story, I am not sure how you can give him 90's in his contact rating even for a POTM card. Unless you just want the card to be 100% fiction and have no basis in his actual monthly performance. He is batting like .237 for the month of May.

Right now it is Aaron Judge by a landslide.

It won't be Story, he's only hitting. 237 in the month of May.

Judge leads MLB with 11 HR ... hitting .333 with 1.187 OPS to boot.

On the other hand JD Martinez is hitting .425, just not big power numbers. Acuna could get it for hit return from injury.... Martin Perez and Verlander in the mix with ERA of 0.64 and 0.70 WHIP of 1.02 and 0.74... unconventional but RPs Taylor Roger's and David Bednar are dominating with 10+ innings right now in May.

Right now I would say Judge and that card would be cracked.

As much as I would love a high Story card I agree he isn't getting it. I think after eliminating 90+ diamonds it has to be Goldschmidt. To me POTM is POTM regardless of position repeats. Also to me high contact cards play better than power cards this year so he would be a beast.

Position shouldn’t make a difference. I hope SDS doesn’t overreact to everyone crying about Rizzo. People will complain no matter what.

Does fielding factor into it at all?

Story is a wizard defensively. Someone mentioned Betts has assists and I know judge is good on defense.

If its a hitter its going to be Devers or goldy. Judge's live series card would already be a 93 or 94 if they didn't limit his fielding for the sole purpose of keeping his overall down

Defense factors into their overall WAR but probably does not make a ton of difference in the POTM selections.

how are we not mentioning altuve?

"Since his return on May 2, he is batting .343 with 18 runs scored and 11 RBIs. Among his 24 hits, 13 have been for extra bases, including eight home runs."

Because he plays for the astros.
