Battle Royale 12th win strategy?
-
First off I'll state that I enjoy the new Battle Royale Program format they instituted last year. It got a casual like me to actually engage in that mode as in prior years there was no point as I wasn't going 12-0. Surprisingly I have made it to the 11 win mark 3 times this year. For some players like me luck is indeed needed for a run like that. First attempt at 12 wins the guy was just simply better, I don't remember the score but I remember it wasn't all that close (3 plus runs). Second attempt I got beat on a walkoff wall scraper HR at Shippett (not my choice of stadium!), just now I lost 2-1 and in the first inning I hit the dive button for my infielder but of course LF dives and let's a second run in. That second run was the difference maker.
For you 12 win BR folks is there some strategy or key to get over the hump or is it just more luck of the draw? I knew in that first inning just now I wasn't going to win.

Being you had Hokie in your username I felt the need to reply. I've only been in a 12-0 game once and it was late in the 21 game cycle so I don't have many strategies. However, I have seen multiple guys that have quite a few of 12-0 runs that if you are in the last couple games of a deep BR run, if you go to the matchmaking screen and get matched up with an opponent in the first few seconds to back out because that guy is deep into a run also. I mean if you have to wait 30 seconds to a minute to get matched up you can still end up matched with someone that is deep into a run but at least it gives you the possibility of getting somebody that's still early in a run and maybe not that great at the game. I've seen some guys that play their 11 and 12th games against guys that look like they are brand new to the game. I haven't gotten quite that lucky yet.
I know it has to work at least occasionally because I was 3-0 in a run and matched up against Razzor and went to his stream afterward and saw that was his 12-0 game. Needless to say he got his 12th win as I couldn't keep it close whatsoever.

Make sure you’re hitting well before diving into that 12th game. I like to make sure I’m consistently on pitches playing HOF or above before diving into BR at all.
Also agree to let the search bar fill up. You may match up with a goon but letting the bar fill up may match you with someone you can handle.
All hands on deck in the 12th game pitching wise. Use your best arms and if possible, save your best bullpen arms so they have stamina for the 12th game
Lastly, it’s tough but try to relax and take pitches. 9 out can run out very quickly if you’re swinging away. Hope that helps

Very true. I have seen that a lot. Now, you could get the goon just starting out his run too but odds are much better.

I run into a lot of quick exits when I find a match up in the high ratings. I assume it’s pretty common, when your up that high there is a luck of the draw as to who you match up with, but only once you let the match rating window open way up. If you find it right away it’s someone on 7-0 or something like 10-1. So peek hours, and also when the new BR program comes out are not the best time.
A week from now the rating window will probably be open for a whole minute near the top allowing you to play someone who isn’t at 9 wins yet as long as there’s stay open for a while as well. There’s also a chance it backfires and someone really good is at 4-0 or 4-1 so at the end of the day just do what you can.
I think the most important thing is to not give up mid game. I can’t count how many times I’ve given up 3, felt it was over, gave up another three, then scored 5 in the bottom of the third and felt pretty dumb.
I’ve never enjoyed BR so much though, the content or “earn able content” is by far the best across all the modes for me.

Great suggestion except that means I'd have to buy a Switch.

I waited for a good 30 seconds. I chanced that it was on the lower end of the match making spectrum. I guessed wrong although my opponent was very beatable hence the 2-1 score.

Interesting. I would think the switch would be hard to hit on. Small screen and not hardwired to the internet. I would expect more lag on it.

I actually played two top tier guys on my switch in BR. I was 3 time zones away for medical treatment for my son playing on my hand held.
They were likely on monitors with after market controllers.
It is what it is lol
