Full Circle: Offline to Online and Back

Good post, OP. It’s a message I actually had to hear today. I was frustrated by the slow buildup of stubs so I can purchase LS collection that I actually bought some stubs. Not a ton, but some to push it along a little further. Now, regret doing it because I know I shouldn’t have. Not that it will break me financially, but I just didn’t need to do it. I just need to be patient and it will come eventually.
I’ve already kind of sworn off H2H for my sanity and just enjoying offline play (though I’m definitely bored with the mystery map now after completing several times). Glad new mini seasons comes out tomorrow.
Anyway, I totally feel what you’re saying OP and thanks for the message/reminder to enjoy the game/process.

Amen!!!! We have discussed this in length, and as you know, I went for playin f this game for fun since inception to diving in like you during the pandemic with DD and the same addiction. I had every card the last two years and was a slave to flipping and getting better.
Burned me out and became not fun, all while SDS laughed at me while not improving the product for fools like me.
No way I get every card this year, have gone 7 days in this game cycle without playing or caring which I never though would happen .
Hope we can finally get a league where we play each other ( even regular non DD league) and people don’t worry about missing out on grinding and falling behind with “their team”.
Thanks for posting , reaffirms where I am at too.
Can we make sure we do that this year?
It can be like a 90 overall cap for the teams so that you don’t feel like you have to have all the OP cards to compete.
Let’s make it happen at some point.Absolutely!!!!!
Yes Yes League. And Shawn we don't have to cap it at 90. Look at the cards that have been released. Even with parallel you may be at 93-94 MAX.

This is a long post and don’t know why I’m compelled to share, so if you idgaf it, I totally understand.
This post really resonated with me. Plus, I love long posts, especially when they're well-written.
I'm in the same boat as you (with the exception of 12-0/World Series). I played RTTS for years, loved it, then went to DD in 2020. Then, in 2021, I went "full Boyle" (that's a "Brooklyn 99" reference... anyone?.... anyone?.... No?... never mind). I got every card, played every event, played all BR seasons, and played all RS seasons. WAY too much.
So this year, I've scaled down to BR only for online. Playing less. Trying to enjoy some RTTS again.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I love offline, I hate online. I like DD, but honestly doing DD every year is tiresome. I like to play DD then skip buying so I can play franchise for a year and then buy new and play DD.
I played a lot of online in 17, so many missions required online, after that I've loathed the online experience.
17 and 18 were the only years I played back to back DD. I now only buy even years. I haven't played DD since 20 until now and I have to say I didn't miss moments and showdown at all. I still love conquest and have high hopes for the future of Mini Seasons, which I did think was fun, I know others have had issues, but I did not. I'd like to see it fleshed out in the future.
All in all I intend to play DD this year without paying for PS plus, so all offline. So far it looks like there is enough fun to be had this year without ever needing to play online. Parallel xp on players is new to me and I think it adds a new level of fun to my experience.

I get it; it’s the fear of missing out. Not enough time to play everything so you do a bit of everything but accomplish nothing and end up frustrated. If you take a couple of days off, you need to get that timing back before jumping online. I appreciate the “lack” of content too, but still chasing too many rabbits. I should concentrate on RS, that’s what I enjoy most: full games that doesn’t raise my blood pressure if I’m down early.
I took a long break after 21 in September; then this winter I started FF7 Remake for a 3rd try (couldn’t get into it; now I get it, wow!) and did everything on Hard Mode, maxed everything. Had a blast; still nostalgic and may give it another go from scratch. I could take 2-3 days off and not panick and enjoy the company of others instead of wishing for me time to play.
This. Everyone knows the hitting engine is not good. People tell you to quit but what if you quit for a month and they fix it? Then you are a month behind.

Had a nightmarish run of RS last night; first game guy quits after I finally put a couple of run on the board in the 4th or 5th; no credit to me, I kept missing pitches to hit. Second game 1-0 for a while then I get a grand slam with Seager that the guy dashboarded, unfortunately .
Next two games, I couldn't catch up to both Valenzuela and Don Sutton. Late on everything, or super early if I tried to adjust. Got one-hit by Sutton (finally broke through in the 8th), and was getting no-hit in the 6th against Fernando and said f it. Put it down for the night. Both guys had clear patterns that I could sit on, to no avail. Blah.
