I think you need a monitor with hdmi 2.1 to take advantage of 120 hz on the ps5

Yeah then definitely make sure you are using the right cable. One that comes with PS5 works fine. Also makes sure you have it plugged into the correct HDMI port on your monitor. Some monitors have one 2.0 and one 1.4 for example. 1.4 will not work for 120hz.

Yeah I have that option in settings and made sure I was using 2.0

No I mean the actual port. Are all your HDMI ports 2.0? If you arent sure tell me the make and model of your monitor.

But I am sure you probably already tried another port anyways right?

Pretty sure it only has 1 hdmi port. I can select between input port 2.0 or 1.4 in settings

Are you talking about the Ultra Wide Monitor?

If so that's your problem. HDMI 2.0 can only do 120Hz on 1920x1080. Thats why we been saying 1080P assuming you had a regualr monitor. But Ultra Wides are WAY more that 1920x1080p. 1080 is still accurate about 1920 is the width and your is too wide to process higher than 60Hz on HDMI 2.0. Your Display Port can do it no problems but that is PC only. HDMI doesnt have enough bandwidth.

But if you can change your resolution in game to 1920x1080 you should be ok.

Edit: This guy shows an adapter that might help you. https://youtu.be/Q8nXo551_GY

Lol you're making my head spin. So it doesn't matter even if I select different screen sizes (wide, 17" 4:3, 19" 4:3, 19" wide 16:10, etc.) I'm still sol?

I am not sure but I dont think so. You would need an adapter so you can plug in through DP.

When you mention changing resolution in-game do you mean in ps5 settings or the monitors? Thanks for all your help and info by the way. I am definitely a noob when it comes to this.

Either or both lol. If you have PS on automatic it might not detect the correct resolution. Make sure its detecting 1920x1080. Other than that from what I seen I dont know if those HDMI ports are gonna go over 60hz because of the ultrawide.

NP, just trying to help. Thats a great Monitor though BTW. Just not really designed so much for console gaming. I just thought you had an ole run of the mill 1920x1080 240hz monitor at first. Those can run a pretty penny as it is.

I think the 2.1 hdmi is more for 4k where 2.0 should be able to do 120 at 1080p

You’re right, that’s what I get for not double checking something I read months ago to make sure I remember it right

Quick question chuck. I'm all set up just like in the video you posted. All my monitor settings opened up and it was at 120hz. Only issue was that it was stretched out over the ultra wide screen and I lost the ability to change screen size. Ended up having to turn PIP on. Only issue is now all monitor settings are greyed out again and it says 60hz. But when I go to video settings on ps5 with game open it says 120hz. Am I all good to go or am I back to square one?

    I wish I had a PS5 so I could have that problem.
I sure do miss the days when consoles were actually sold in stores instead of these lottery ticket sales.

Monitor supports 240hz. 1080p and 2160p both stay at 60 hz. Performance mode is on. Any help? Yes I'm an idiot. Thanks.

Though your monitor supports 240hz, your monitor might not fully support 120hz since the output signal from PS5 is AV not PC.
Since the HDMI standard PC and AV signal systems are completely different, most monitors made for PC support still do not fully support high-spec AV signals. This is a part of the answer I received when I inquired directly from the monitor manufacturer representative.
