'What If' Players

Honestly the best example right now is Byron Buxton. A true 5 tool player but made of paper mache apparently.
Nomar should have had 3,000 hits (injuries)
JD Drew (injuries)
Doc Gooden (Drugs)
Noah Syndagaard (injuries)
Mark Mulder (injuries)
Mark prior (injuries)Injuries are such a true bummer.
There are many others
Bo Jackson, anyone?
Troy Tulowitzki (Injuries)
David Wright, could’ve been one of the great third base man (injuries)
Tommy John, not really a what if he played forever. But if he didn’t have his own surgery maybe he wins 300 games and is in the Hall.
Rocco Baldelli (rare muscular disorder)
Joel Zumaya, pure flame thrower. Career was basically over as soon as it started (injuries)

Nomar is a good one, he was destined for greatness when him, Jeter and A-Rod came into the league.
Can't talk about "what if's" without Griffey's multiple years of injuries in Cincy.
Can you imagine if he'd been healthy all those years. 800 HRs maybe?

Josh Gibson - rumor has it, he was better than anyone back in the day. Never had a chance to prove it.

What if I had free ice growing up in Brooklyn...
-
Mark “The Bird” Fidrych.

That Fernandez kid with the Marlins; woah… killed my keeper team (no pun intended), but man he was special

How sweet would it have been to see a lot of players reach their full potential if not for internal and external situations.
Biggest what if is Rick Ankiel, what could of been if not for the 2000 postseason meltdown.
Oscar Taveras (RIP) could've lived up to his #1 MLB prospect potential if not for his fatal crash.
Grady Sizemore could've been a LH Trout if not for injuries.I know there are many more, those 3 just came to mind
Don Mattingly would be in the Hall of fame

Jose Fernandez was the best pitcher I’ve ever seen in my life.
You must not watch much baseball then...

Depends on his age; but look at his lines and how young he started; dominated right away, almost no learning curve. He was on his way to being what DeGrom is today.

I think about it this way. Hank Aaron had that stellar 20+ year career and never had monster homerun years. He was a consistent ~40 dingers a years dude.
Griffey, had he had those 7 or so years back that he could play say 140 games a year, he for sure enters the Hank Aaron and Bonds career totals, maybe 800 like you said. He ended with mid-600's if I believe, so definitely coulda been that target I think.

Lol I wouldn’t pop off on me like that, he had the most electric stuff ever and I’ve seen it live at a game. If you want to talk we can talk shop, would gladly love your opinion on things.

George Sister probably could had several more good seasons. He had a bad sinus infection that caused double vision. He became a player manager after that, and he never hit very well after that.
