Infield fly bug?

I was playing a guy, down by 1 in the 7th I have a man on 1st and 2nd no outs, I bring in a pinch hitter i then pop up to the infield and set down my controller in disgust and infield fly was called, my opponent circled around the ball and then let’s it drop. As soon as it drops, my guy runs to the next base on his own and then gets out. Anyone else have this experience?

No, but I do not play online. However, maybe the person you were playing knew there was a glitch, and let the ball drop on purpose, knowing the runners would try to advance. Or maybe thinking you would get confused and start your runners. I guess it worked for him through no fault of your own.
