Xbox Gamepass Early Access Package insanely overpriced
-
If you don't have Gamepass then the early access package does not apply to you, I 100% agree with you that if I was not getting the game via gamepass I would get the more expensive option and think the extra price is worth it, you are missing the point, if the early access package was in the $20-$30 range I think that would be much more reasonable.
My post is about the Early Access Package price, not an argument with the normal version vs deluxe version pricing, I am fine with that.
I value the base game at around $50 or $60 (which I get by paying for a gamepass subscription), so the early access price being an extra $50 would double that making it worth the $100 deluxe edition, yet I am getting rewards closer to the $70 version,
First and so I am clear: I agree that the gamepass addition is over-priced.
I disagree with the evaluation, and a different lens may ease some of the frustration. "I value the base game at around $50 or $60 (which I get by paying for a gamepass subscription)," But that's not the actual value of the game in gamepass. if you pay $50 for the subscription, we could argue that its actual value $of sub/number of games.
You could say "well I buy game pass only for TS" Great, and your evaluation dictates your purchasing decision not the value of the product in the market. I agree with the frustration and not the evaluation.
I may just buy to own the game. I put so many hours into it the ROI is ridiculous compared to other games I play.

Hold your horses. It will have server issues and be incomplete in the first week so then you’ll be complaining you wasted your money.

I was thinking about this… This is the first year my expectations for the game have been low because I literally played the last game like 3 or 4 months. With that said… for me, the desire to play is at its higher lever those first months specially the two weeks after launch but paying +12 euros per day for those 4 days of early access just doesn’t pay off. I couldn't care less about the packs and stuff because they are already announcing 90 diamond cards, and it is extremely easy to build a competitive team. So I guess I'm going to get drunk and have fun going out till the 5th.
lol exactly mate - they are a joke to think we'd be paying for "early access" - who cares, it will just be easier to cruise through Rank 00 in season online play once we dive in a week later

The issue with your statement, a thought I considered, is that yes, they may be saying we make estimated X amount of money per game from the gamepass deal, fore ease sake lets say approx $20 per game, so the $50 addon would put it in line with the $70 version, however the big difference with the gamepass version is I do not own the game, at any time they can remove it from gamepass and I lose access, buying the early access does not give me the base game though, so if I purchased the early access, and lets say that would be the normal cost of the game plus benefits ($70), I still don't own the game and at any time they can still remove it and I lose access, for $50 it should include the game itself as well to make sense with the gamepass version making less money per game. The package then is more in line with buying the $70 version of the game ($20 per gamepass game + $50 for early access) for those who are already paying something via gamepass.
My values on the market are based on the pricing they put their versions at, I tried to value each part as contributing a value, I.e, $60 Base Game (this is their pricing, not mine) 1 GC pack 5k stubs, next level is $70 with 5 show packs and another 5k stubs for a total of 10k, so you can say that 5 show packs + 5k stubs equals $10 (although typically the more you spend the cheaper this combo becomes). I am not gonna go through the rest but I used their pricing to calculate a value. The deal they made with Xbox for the gamepass is really irrelevant, it only makes sense when realizing that they are trying to make up the difference from the customer without giving the ownership rights that come from buying the version outside of gamepass.

Great points and again: I understand your perspective. While there is a fear of "not owning the game," My question for you is: Do you see them removing the game from gamepass? It's been made pretty clear that the decision to put TS on Gamepass was the MLBs not SDS. That and considering the astronomical numbers Sony/SDS made in profits last year, would it make says financially (and PR) to remove the game? Will it be removed a couple years down the line -- probably. Question: if that is the case, do you see yourself playing MLB 23 in 2023,24,25, etc? Here we are with less than a week until the game comes out and MLB TS 21 is still available to play on game pass.
My perspective might also come with different set of circumstances. I have Gamepass ultimate for a stupid-cheap price right now (and for a while), I play the TS nonstop and coop will only increase that number. I decided to buy the game: I love it, I want to play it early and I was cool with the perks.
I do wonder if they expected players to have a keen eye for the missing perks. The pricing is just off...An explanation would be great. Doubtful we will get one though.

No, I have zero expectation that they will remove the game from gamepass, but if they do for whatever reason I also have no claim to continue access to the game, but on a year to year game ownership value could be easily argued away.
I just calculate about $30-35 worth of value based on their pricing
($20 for the 10 packs and 10k stubs) and ($10-$15 for the rest of what's included in the gamepass early access) (Values based on the Base game vs the $70 version and the $70 version vs the $85)but they are charging $50, just wondering what that other $15 is for? I really want the early access as I love the show, I would happily pay the 50 for early access and the perks from the digital deluxe package, or I would happily pay $20-$30 for the current offering but the current option just doesn't make financial sense.
I don't know what the deal was for the show to be on gamepass, I don't know who had the final call or how decision/settlement was reach but they reached it, I should not be punished by having to pay extra money for no value because they are not happy with the deal, the reality is probably that the addition of xbox and gamepass added tons more users, a percentage of which probably bought stubs and the company did not lose money on the gamepass contract.
p.s. I understand your points as well, we are not that far off from each other
-
Just to dive a tiny bit deeper, lets surmise that they wind up getting approx $45 per gamepass version, lets call these rentals, vs owners who pay $60. Then that $15 is there to cover the difference between renting and owning, if I get the early access package they still get the $45 from the rental, I have now covered the additional $15 why shouldn't ownership come along with that, they are getting the $45 from rental and $15 from package for $60, the price to own the game. And to me ownership is not that important because of the yearly cycle of the game, just really trying to figure out what that extra $15 is for
Note: $15 is the difference between the $50 price tag, and the at most $35 worth of perks as valued by SDS themselves

You have more options than those of us on PS5 and Switch, so I don’t know what you’re complaining about.

lol right we actually have to purchase the game

pretty sure I made my complaint clear, I don't understand the pricing on the gamepass early access, not sure what PS5 or Switch have to do with that

You did. It’s just a stupid thing to complain about when you have more options than everyone else. If you’re cheap, wait a few more days and play for free.

I’m indifferent about PS vs Xbox. I was just able to get my hands on a PS5 first. You don’t see me out here crying about Xbox players getting it for free.

My understanding:
-MLB loves the game, tired of pissing away cash on their own game for Xb and Switch.- MLB agreed to continue its deal with SDS as long as SDS opened its doors to other consoles.
- The MLB wants more exposure to younger audiences and essentially said "put that [censored] on gamepass (puffs a cigar)"
- A little over 3-4 months into the game a report came out that Sony, SDS and MLB are incredibly happy. --- swimming in cash.
So now they're testing ways to get more revenue.

No… If you have Game Pass, you are getting the game for free with an option of getting an $85 value for $50. These are the best 2 options available on any console and you are whining about it.

"...You are whining about..." Nah, not whining, I am joining in on a conversation. The initial poster is also breaking down the value of the gamepass offering. Additionally, gamepass is a paid for subscription - the game does not come free (economics is a tricky subject). Sounds like you might be a little sour over the offerings are that provided to you. This conversation will carry-on, I am certain there is a pile of sand somewhere you can pound. Thanks for the input Alan Greenspan.

Love it anytime someone doesn’t agree with agenda it’s a troll. Xbox users getting game at a fraction of price for second year in a row and long time ps users paying full price. Too cheap wait until the 5th pretty simple
