Is Universal DH in MLB The Show 22?

The Universal DH is coming in 2022 when the CBA is officially agreed upon. People have known it was coming this year for many years now so one would assume Sony knew this as well. Right?
Well, there’s no Universal DH in the Tech Test version of the game. That is concerning. I know it’s only a tech test but I’m worried they may have gotten lazy and not included it this year.
Now before you say “The universal DH has been in the game for years”…no it has not. That’s only in franchise mode. We have never had the option to use the DH is regular exhibition mode which frankly is not a good look for Sony. Games like MVP Baseball 2005 had an option to use the DH 17 years ago but here we are in 2022 without one. That strikes me as extremely laziness on the part of Sony and it concerns me.
I’m hoping I’m wrong and the final version of the game has the Universal DH. If it doesn’t this will be the first time I skip buying MLB The Show in over a decade.

Well since it's not officially an MLB rule yet, it makes sense it is not in the tech test. I am not surprised nor concerned that it wasn't.

I’m concerned that it won’t be in the final version either. It doesn’t have to officially be a rule for them to add it to the game. They can make it an option to toggle on and off like they do in franchise mode.

This concerns me because if they removed that and didn’t add the DH will they really do that in the final version. I have serious doubts.

Manfred only announced the universal DH on February 10th, and the tech test become available to download on the 15th. That build was finished and ready to go probably about a week before it became available, and considering it was only a one week tech test they weren’t going to go back in and rewrite code for it. The extra inning rule being removed was announced back in July along with double headers returning to 9 inning games, so it makes sense that they already removed it. I wouldn’t read too much into what you saw in the tech test. This game is produced along with MLB Advanced Media. They’re not going to let the game have the wrong rules. Worse comes to worst, if the lockout is still going when the game releases, MAYBE the DH rule isn’t there but they’ll fix it with a patch once the CBA is done and the rule change becomes official. Things will probably be resolved before that happens.

I pray you’re right. As long as they patch it into the game I’ll be buying it.
