MLBPA rejects mediator

I'm honestly not too intelligent when it comes to this stuff. But until this past week I believed baseball would avoid a strike using common sense and even greed to realize that any interruption in the season would cause irreparable damage.
Now I think the iceberg is about to rip a hole in the ship. I think the 22 season is in serious danger.
Please feel free to chime in. I know this isn't DD conversation.....but....if you can add how the game changes based on a work stoppage, that would be great. I know the game will be released as normal but there would be no roster updates, no Topps moments, no programs for All Star games, FOD, Postseason etc. Does SDS compensate with other content?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions. My band played at a roadside bar in the woods in East San Diego last night and I'm still a little baked.

In terms of the game, they rely on a lot of past programs, like in 2020 they did flashback player of the month stuff from 17, 18, and 19.

That rejection does not look good.
I hear Spring Training may be delayed.
Neither side wants to budge, and it's sad.
Funny how people constantly screw up a good thing, like Amazon raising Prime rates as well. -

Thrse guys (all of them) clearly forgot how DEAD baseball was following the last work stoppage. They have a great thing going right now with some remarkably exciting young players and teams yet here we are.
It took steroids for ppl to care about baseball after 95. What will they turn to this time to revive it?

It took Cal Ripken Jr. to save it. Then the single season home run chase brought back everyone else.

Fair point.
Well, they don't have a Cal OR steroids anymore so I guess they're fcked lol

It's just so frustrating to watch something you love in the hands of greedy business men who care nothing about it. I'm more on the side of the players obviously but I'm not exactly feeling feeling sorry for guys like Scherzer or even someone like Kirby Yates who makes several million a year and hasn't played since 2019. I would take the league minimum and be able to live quite comfortably forever. It's just a continuous slap in the face to people who work hard and make a small percentage of what these players and owmers make and just want the game they love ro entertain them.

F MLB and the MLBPA. They don’t give two turds about us.
-
They do own the manufacturing of baseballs, even admitted to using two different balls last year. Hmmm I see a big jump in home runs when they do play again. And yes both sides are greedy dumb asses willing to sacrifice the game for money.
It's just as stupid that it's almost impossible to watch my team play on tv with local games getting blacked out and hard to find on any streaming service. Yet the most popular sport football is free every Sunday on local tv. -

We are definitely the losers of this entire thing.

We are. Along with all the folks on the periphery... Stadium workers and vendors, restaurant and bar owners, etc.

I can’t justify getting cable to just watch the O’s. I sound old but I remember when the O’s were on local TV in Baltimore.

I'm all in as long as Reel Big Fish plays at the games, or another late 90's Ska band. Goldfinger would also be acceptable.

It's hard to have sympathy for either side. I know the owners are greedy but when a guys in their early 20's are making the league minimum, which is over a half million dollars, it is hard to empathize with them.
Let's look at Max Scherzer's most recent twitter post
"We want a system where threshold and penalties don’t function as caps, allows younger players to realize more of their market value, makes service time manipulation a thing of the past, and eliminate tanking as a winning strategy."
Let me ask a question then if there is no cap or penalties then how does that make the game more competitive? The big market teams will just spend ridiculous amounts of money and get all of the talent while small market teams are left to flounder. Isn't that why they tank now because they can't compete with teams that spend 200 million plus, like the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees? If young players hit free agency sooner then the best ones will all just gravitate to the big spenders.
Seems like what the players are pushing for will just widen the gap between the top tier teams and the bottom tier teams.
I am not pulling for the owners either but Max's statement just seems like it would cause more issues.
