I still want pitcher/catcher synergy. For instance, Every pitcher and catcher start out with 0 synergy. As the synergy increases (via IP with the two working as a tandem) the following player attributes increase.
H/9, k/9, bb/9
Blocking, AS, AASo for SYG1, have like 50 innings together. SYG2 - 200, SYG3 - 500, SYG4 - 1000, SYG5 - 2000.
The first 3 Synergy only boost the stat +1 for each level. At level 4 it goes up to 2 (total of 5). At 5 it goes up 3 to give you +8 to the attributes mentioned. This is without factoring in Parallels.
Furthermore, synergy would be based on the namesake rather than the generation/version of the card. So say Adam Wainwright Live Series is pitching to Yadier Molinas AS card. Once you unlock Adam Wainwrights Awards card or any other variation, the SYG doesn't reset but remains, same with any version of Yadier Molina.
The catcher catching the pitcher has always been a big thing in real baseball. You need to have synergy, but there is none of that present in MLBTS.
This would only apply to SP, and SYG would have to be equipped via the catcher (Hopefully to force a player to use two catchers). You're only allowed 3 SP to be equipped to a catcher.
If you had Yadi at SYG5, and bring in a new pitcher (like Jake Arrieta) no SYG bonuses are applied until Jake Arrietta increases his synergy. At SYG1 both players recieve the SYG1 bonus, but Yadi doesn't get the SYG5 bonuses yet.
Make sense? Would love to see some pitcher/catcher interaction beyond just plugging the two in and throwing.

Appreciate you guys thinking outside the box. Personally, I like it the way it is.

As a player, this seems like a cool idea.
As a programmer, this idea is going to further stress load times and hinder performance.

I only need 60 fps and im good. Load times are a non factor imo

Any chemistry/synergy idea would be of limited use in the first several innings of the game cycle since anything other than a 99 OVR becomes obsolete really quickly.

I suggest re-reading my proposal. The synergy carries over from card to card, so LS Yadi would have the same synergy as when the 99 Yadi comes out.

Sorry, I do like that idea. The only downside I can see is if an early 90-ish card never gets a God Card later on. But I think it's pretty clear who those guys are -- we know we're getting another Piazza, another Vlad, another Mick, et al. But there might be some that go unfulfilled...OR...the time between the 88 Babe and the 99 Babe -- is the 88 still "usable" once 99's start rolling out like free candy?

Maybe after u reach P5 u can then prestige the card

I like the way the parallels system was introduced this year and hope it stays the same. Just give us the option to search by parallels. So if we want to do a Par 3 team build or Par 5 team build it will be easier.

Team chem boost to help out guys building theme teams would be cool. I will say that in Madden it worked for a couple years but now it has really made the game stale. Most players are running the same 5 theme teams just because they are OP. Basically every other h2h game you are getting matched up with the Raiders. Now obviously EA could do something about this by evening out what players from which teams get cards. However, I could see half of the MLB community running Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox just because they have the most loaded teams with current players and legends.
Keep everything madden related out of this game including any type of boosts related to TTs.

the P5 system was cool this year, but next year add the option for once you reach p5 on a card you get to pick a specific or different card art, it'd be cool to differenciate and see different card arts or how people can customize, also add team chems like Madden! It'd make using roster building more unique.
I agree the Parallel system was awesome! I’m not necessarily against what you’re suggesting. Selecting you’re own card art would be cool. I would like the show to be unique from Madden though.

Personally I would like to see pre game handedness make a return. I’d also like for them to make some lower rated cards usable again (platoon cards). Prime example would be the Shin Soo Choo card from his days with the Reds. I used that card all the time. It destroyed right handed pitching. I would love to be able to use those type of cards again.

Reminds me of the ultimate platoon catcher. Jared Saltalamacchia

Yup he’s another one! Even Trevor Plouffe had a silver card one year that had over 90 power. It was usable. I enjoyed those cards.

Agree. Platoons/splits are a big thing in BR. Jesse Winker might be this year's version of That Platoon Guy.
Reverse splits are also cool. I found it harder late in the year to hit righties with lefties -- the slider/cutter-to-the-gut was really hard for me to lay off.

have you ever actually spent time playing MUT? Madden and EA get a terrible rep, but the team building in madden thousand times better than mlb, its just more grinding

Man I actually like that MLB doesn’t have badges(which would be like customizable quirks you can add to players), training points, team chems and all the extra upgrade stuff.
It would be a huge stub sink to have to be leveling up dudes and a huge time sink as well.
Don’t give them ideas. Maybe next year the parallel system will cost stubs or card feeding which would suck. I really enjoy the simplicity of the system in Diamond Dynasty.

but yeah it is pretty simple, mlb just gets really bland, it'd be fun if you had sort of system that boosts the players in game, say you're 4 for 4 with a guy in a game it'd be sweet to see him activate which would reward you and you'd get bigger pci or a + in attributes for that at bat, like having players be able to enter a zone where they get abilities makes having a card worth it. The old stale system just gets super boring to play. They win us over every year with the "its free" argument and the game play never backs it up

I do agree…they somehow took it too far in the other direction from other sports games.
