I also sometimes go with Adiago for Strings by Samuel Barber.

That particular song is kind of depressing to me. At 45, I go with the amp up music from metal to hip hop to reggae to keep myself pumped up.

And I might add, every time I hear the DJ Air Horn, it makes me want to break stuff..lol

It reminds me of Platoon, cause that's the song from Platoon! I honestly rooted for Tom Berenger in that one though the whole time, so I wasn't so upset about Dafoe's death as most were.

Exactly where I first hear the song myself. One of the greatest movies ever made.

I didn't serve in Nam but my uncle was a door gunner in a Huey and he didn't come back. I've listened to a lot of interviews with vets and they all say that Platoon is the one movie that really got it right.

I think it was a touch anti-American for my tastes, but a great movie and a powerful soundtrack to be sure!

It varies. If I'm playing 10a-2pm Eastern on a Saturday, I listen to an unbelievable classic Soul & R & B show called 'Rhytym Review' on WBGO. If its Sunday 7a-11a Eastern, i put on 'Post-Modern Alt' on Alt 92.3 on my stereo. If it's late night, I put on either my Spotify playlist or my fone player playlist with headphones 🎧. Each is mixed with Hard Rock like VH and RATT or Metal like Metal Church or Armored Saint or some Hip Hop or Classic R & B.
    I listen to ALL music!

I kinda fear an opponent listening to R&B. That's too mellow. That's a guy that even if I go up 3-0 on, he's just chillin and next thing I know I'm down 7-3.

My losing streak has not abated so I'm now gonna try Eric's advice. I mean, Queen I know of that's great music. Queen of the Stone Age? Never heard of em, but if they break the losing streak I'll go to their concerts with my chest painted and everything!

Alice in Chains were great and Dirt is one of my favorite albums ever. Not many bad songs on there if any.

My go to for losing streaks not just RS is Iron Maiden or Tool.

Now I'm the guy that gets depressed by a song. That last "Live in Concert" that Layne Staley did, shortly before he died, have you ever seen that? He was clearly on his last legs, his skin was so yellow it was almost green, but he still killed it. Every song he killed it. He was the frontman of Alice in Chains, for those that don't know. Rest in peace, Layne.

Here's the song I remember most that I'm talking about:

Yes I've seen it, he was amazing. I never got to see him preform live although I wish I had.

AIC was better than Nirvana in those days in my opinion, but Nirvana got more hype. I liked them both, but AIC was more raw.

I prefer AIC because they leaned more towards metal/ hard rock then most of the grunge bands. I don't mind Nirvana but like I said earlier I love AIC.

It's a bit of a different genre, but the same sentiment. You ever heard of Elliott Smith?

duuuude you're in for a treat if you can stand depressing stuff. He died by suicide, and his manner of suicide was by stabbing himself with a knife through his own heart. So he was pretty emo.

I recommend "no name #1" by elliott smith. He won awards for the soundtrack of Good Will Hunting though. He wrote and performed that entire score for that movie.

Edited to add: King's Crossing. I'd recommend that over no name #1. Both are dynamite though.

I sing in a few bands when I'm not at work or getting my [censored] kicked in RS. I have a 90s band and AIC is one of the hardest bands to cover because Layne's voice and Cantrell's harmonies are so intricate and haunting.

Soundgarden is another amazing band from that era and nobody sings like Cornell did. RIP to another great.

Queens of the Stone Age is a lesser known but still popular band from the late 90s and early 2000s led by Josh Homme, the ultimate guitar slinging, vocally slick rock star.

Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters and Nirvana hopped behind the kit for their third album and Mark Lanagan from Screaming Trees (another Seattle Grunge band) sang some tracks and it blew up. You've probably heard 'No one Knows, 'Go with the Flow' and perhaps 'Little Sister' which they famously played on SNL with Will Farrell playing cowbell Ala the 'more cowbell' skit.

Queens has done all kinds of great projects and are something of a super group. Josh Homme and Dave Grohl did an album with John Paul Jones from Zeppelin called Them Crooked Vultures. It is amazing.

Try these albums by Queens: Villains, Like Clockwork, Lullabies to Paralyze, Songs for the Deaf and Era Vulgaris. They feature guest appearances from Trent Reznor, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Billy Gibbons from ZZ top, Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys and Rob Halford from Judas Priest to name a few.

If you like AIC, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden etc, you will love Queens of the Stone Age.

I will step down from my soap box now.

Dirt was great. 'Junkhead' is my favorite song of theirs, but I think 'Facelift' was a better album than 'Dirt.'
Iron Maiden is in my top 5 bands.
I actually saw Queen 'live' at MSG! 1980

Alright Vladimir, you’re clearly more than a post or two that I disliked earlier on. Anyone who knows and appreciates Elliott Smith is someone I would wanna befriend.

I've heard of him but I haven't listened to his music no.

I recommend "no name #1" by elliott smith. He won awards for the soundtrack of Good Will Hunting though. He wrote and performed that entire score for that movie.

Edited to add: King's Crossing. I'd recommend that over no name #1. Both are dynamite though.

Alright Vladimir, you’re clearly more than a post or two that I disliked earlier on. Anyone who knows and appreciates Elliott Smith is someone I would wanna befriend.

We started a war over Pujols and now we're cool haha..

Elliott Smith is haunting and amazing.
