Personally, I don’t like when my opponent takes too long to come to the plate, as some will do. I will step out with the D pad usually, but that only works once, and then I just have to wait.
If my opponent is pitching too fast, it is a similar situation, I can hold R2 I suppose, to have a bit more time but again, you can only do it for so long and it is generally frowned upon.
IT is not THAT hard to take slightly more time between pitches. I am only saying this because a solid 80% of my opponents do not pitch at me like a machine gun.

Now if we are going to give Bumpkin the benefit of the doubt and say he just likes to play really fast and isn’t in fact trying to gain any advantage over his opponents by doing so, then fine.
It still doesn’t explain why the vast majority of players do NOT play the game at lightning speed, or why Bumpkin finds it so difficult to slow down his pitch delivery slightly if his opponents are complaining about it.

Quick pitching in the truest sense of the term is impossible on this game. Picking a pitch aides your pitcher to come set and pause. This is something people complain about because they want to be doing a million other things while playing an online video game (texting, scratching their balls, hitting a bowl, i don’t know)

I wonder if people that complain about quickpitching...take a pitch off in between swings at the batting cage. Cause it's too fast for them. Grip it and rip it.

Ok, so in an actual MLB game there are anywhere from a few to 15/20 seconds between pitches. Once the pitcher pitches the ball then the catcher has to throw it back. Then the pitcher has to get set and has to wait for the catcher to give the pitcher a sign as to what pitch they want.
That takes time.
In the game, it's select pitch, pitch the ball, get the pitch back, select pitch, and then pitch the ball. If someone is quick pitching that sequence can happen in about 2-3 seconds.
It's a huge difference.
Now, some may say that they don't want the game to take forever. It won't take as long as one could take I'd you have someone holding R2 to stop you from quick pitching.
People complain about this all the time. But it’s a video game. How much time do you actually need between pitches? It’s not like YOU have to step out of the box and get signs from your coach or something? When is it enough time? If the game allows me to select the pitch and throw it, then I’m doing it. I’ve never felt I didn’t have enough time between pitches when I was batting.
The obvious answer to your question is “a little more than you are giving me”.
I mean how hard is that? I’ve played somewhere under a hundred games of ranked and a bunch of BR and CL games. The amount of times my opponents pitch too fast, I could count on one hand, so the evidence suggests that you guys that insist on playing this way are in the minority by far.
It’s not too surprising to see that you are also a very vocal and intolerant group. The game requires two players to play successfully online.

No pitcher has to come set with 0 runners on base, number 2 the OP is talking about base running be the issue with the quick pitching when runners are on base not coming set is should be a balk, Balks are turned Off, I can see giving 3 seconds when runners are on base.

Care to give an example of an “insult” I have “hurled” at you at any point of this conversation?
I said you were gaslighting the dude. Then I gave you the benefit of the doubt, then I said you sound more interested in winning an argument than hearing what OP or myself had to say.

After reading all these replies, I think many do not understand what constitutes a balk and why it is not permitted in MLB.
Any time there is a runner on base, the pitcher is required to come completely set at the waist prior to delivering the pitch. This rule was implemented because pitchers would do exactly what they do in the sim right now, they skip coming set and deliver the pitch in one motion from start to finish. When a pitcher does this, it denies the running game the opportunity to develop properly.
It’s not a quick pitch as many have tried to call it. Quick pitching in MLB is when a pitcher reduces some part of his wind up or delivery and throws the ball in a manner inconsistent with how he normally pitches trying to catch the batter off guard. It is rarely done.
There is a simple solution to the balk issue which would not add significant time to the game, it would be more like playing against the AI, they always come set before every pitch with a runner on.
The solution is once the pitch is selected, the pitcher comes to the set automatically, and then the meter pops up to deliver the pitch. Problem solved, the running game is now a fair cat-and-mouse game between the pitcher and runner, no one needs to use R2 to force the set position, and it’s more realistic gameplay.
