    It's a Conquest game.

I take the lead in the first.

Bob Gibson pitches 1.0 inning and leaves the game with a 4-1 lead. He gets the win.
Raisel Iglesias pitches 1.2 innings before leaving the game and gets the hold.
Mariano Rivera comes in to get the last out with the score still 4-1 (a three run lead). He doesn't get the save.

    Why?

because he pitched only the final out with a 3 run lead. started the third, he d have gotten it, with the way saves work, if a pitcher comes into an inning the tying run must be at the plate or on deck( with 1 out) with 2 outs batter has to be tying run for a save.

Weird. I know I've had Rivera pitch the final out before and get the save with a 3 run lead. I'll have to pay more attention to where the tying run is at.

    Thanks.

Tying tun has to be on deck.

So to get s one out save w/ a 3 run lead, there’d have to be a man on base.

That must have been the case in the past...I just never paid attention to that part. I only paid attention to the score. Now I know.

    Thank you.
