For us mere mortals HOF just isn’t fun. The pitch speeds are just too fast and the gameplay is straight up boring. I get a few hits, my opponent gets a few hits and whoever hits more HRs win. There’s really no variety to hitting on this difficulty for ranked. Going from all star to HOF with the varying timing windows is brutal for me. Sorry for venting…feel like they ruined RS this year.
It’s more or less whoever gets lucky with home runs is the winner. HOF is brutally ridiculous!!!
Makes you appreciate people like Littlemann and Weens who hit Legemd like it’s Veteran for most.
I mean…..yeah you’re not wrong. But I certainly am not gonna put in the time it would require of me to get that good. I’m too old and have too many responsibilities. I already spend too much time on this game.
Man, I am way too old to ever be elite at this game too. My 11 year old son has unreal reaction times when hitting ( but doesn’t understand the pitching strategy yet). Makes me realize how much my hand eye reaction has slowed.
Agreed. This is the only PS game I own and it’s simply because I love baseball!! I’ve been playing since 2015. The first time I saw the Topps cards on the screen and was like “I had that card when I was a kid”, I was hooked. I was a really player in ‘17, but like you my reaction time has slowed drastically!! I’m still decent and if I try hard I can get to mid 800’s, but I play now for fun. About once or twice a year I try to summon all my patience and put together a serious run for 900 just to see if I can still do it. Made it to 846 I think this year. Haven’t made it to 900 since ‘17.

You just need to keep playing and do BP on legend with maxed fastball speeds. All star is too easy HOF and Legend can be a challenge but if you take BP consistently and if you don’t have a monitor I highly suggest getting one.
Yeah, NO. "Taking BP" for a video game is just one hill too far for most people, myself included.
Nevertheless, I think this is a problem that can never really be solved, or maybe it's not a problem at all since we're talking competitive online. There need to be levels.
The problem that CAN be solved is the ridiculousness of 125 power guys and outlier pitchers. God Squad games have NO variety whatsoever.
Ban outlier, OR give it out way less and make stamina a real thing.

We live the same experience, my friend. I have made one teal attempt at WS each of the last two seasons ( I have played The Show since first iteration but just started SD last year).
Last year I hit 870 and this year 876. Last year I had a few soul crushing losses that ended that run and this year 2 disconnect losses that put me over the edge at that point. Mentally far too draining for my sanity !
And like the guy said above, consistent “practice” for a video game that is supposed to be a “getaway” from stress is one step too far ( and my wife would have me committed “.

Meh, it's what you said combined with 99 Gods all over the field plus outliers to boot. Yuck.
I wish I had known how much better BR plays because of mortal players. If I engage with DD next year, it will be BR over RS.
Bro fouling off every pitch regardless of pci placement or timing is not having the game “playing well.”

HOF is actually pretty easy and a good balance if you play some games there and adjust.
Of course people these days prefer to be able to foul off pitches ten feet out of the zone that aren’t touching the pci with very early/late timing.
Stop complaining and let people that actually want to play baseball have our little corner in World Series RS.

It’s not as much about practicing as it is about committing to playing on legend/HOF and sticking to it. Believe it or not you will get used to the pitch speeds and timing windows.
You guys go ahead and complain instead so every mode in the game is on slow pitch softball, with strike zone pcis and you can’t strike out.
They already gave you whiners cumulative wins and you still complain.

All good. I actually hate all star more than hall of game. I find myself playing Extra Innings on all Star or HOF most of the time now a days.
All star online is terrible and HOF is good about 60% of the time, but when you get the bad connection against guys using an outlier pitcher and it all of a sudden pitches seem 120 mph, it ruins it.
So I actually lean more toward your side of the argument, but think SDS still has a lot of work to do. Now ranked season legend ( I did really well last year in the legend event but think they messed with sliders) is beyond my abilities and doubt that changes.

The velocity on HOF isnt the problem, its the crazy Change of speeds. Facing Verlander on HOF is harder than legend. The circle change and cutter aren’t drastically different on Legend, whereas the circle change on HOF is hilariously slow compared to the outlier FB.

And like the guy said above, consistent “practice” for a video game that is supposed to be a “getaway” from stress is one step too far ( and my wife would have me committed “.
No need to be an a**. I didn’t slog the mode, just said the dedication to get consistent at legend speeds is beyond my days. If you read any post of mine, you would see I am 100% against cumulative wins and points for WS and BR rewards and in the huge minority there.
Most times I have seen you comment you have seemed pretty cool
So I will chalk the last few up to you having a bad day. .My bad…I was just on a posting spree and didn’t necessarily mean that directly to you. Just scares me
If everything plays like it does on all-star next year. You can also refer back to my post where I said maybe it isn't a problem at all because competitive online needs to have levels.
HOF and Legend is just too much for most people. I think SDS did a good job of making it much grindier get RS and BR rewards if you're not "that" player. It's a compromise.
I'd be in favor of outer pci being axed IF outlier goes as well. No need for outlier.

Yeah I could compromise with getting rid of the RNG keep the game even hits, outer pci and ridiculous foul balls if they slowed the pitch speed online.

There’s a skill gap for a reason. If you want to be better it takes effort. Can’t complain about not being good enough without trying hard enough
If you read my post, I wasn't complaining. I actually said it's probably not a problem since competitive needs to have levels.
That being said, you can look at player stats from a couple years ago and see that not everyone was 120 in everything. THAT'S the problem. Along with outlier and the glitchy sinker.

I'm a realist. I understand that I'll never be a good HOF player. I've made it to the high 700's this year, and it's as far as I'll get. And... that's OK. There needs to be a separate playground for the truly elite at this game.
I would LOVE to go back to age 20 and see if I'd be able to make WS.

Either way the game is the way it is. The only way to be better is to hop in BP and try and improve pci placement and timing. There’s always gonna be an overpowered meta no matter what game you play -

Oreo is one of the more level headed posters on this board. Not sure what warranted this response.
And I also disagree with your post. Not everyone is created equal. We all don't have the same equipment to play with/on and we are all different ages meaning we all have different reaction times and abilities.

Perfectly said. Great points. "Git gud" isn't the solution for everyone.
