As the father to a special needs child this is offensive. Can we all just stop using this word in a jokey manner. I don't think that's too much to ask.

That was my point in my post above. I have a Down syndrome uncle who is the most fantastic soul I know. Using the word he did as an insult needs to stop, I don’t think most that do realize how offensive it is.

My Son has Autism. And several people in his class had various issues. The word is offensive. Especially the way the OP spelled it out. I wish something could be done to emphasize this. A cause and effect. That is the only way people learn. Just my opinion.
