It’s November, baseball is over, and we have the last monthly moments program in game and the highest Babe Ruth card is an 88.
-
I think it’s kind of stupid that we can’t use great players until the game starts to die off. Like now the playoffs are over, content is winding down, less and less players are playing and we still don’t have the best version of Babe Ruth or Ken Griffey Jr. Maybe they drop them in the next inning program, but that’s still months of the year I missed not being able to use some of the best cards.
-
Yeah, they've dropped the ball a lot this year.
-
I 100% agree with you that we should have both of those guys by now.
Devils advocate though, while it wouldn't be you complaining, if they had released them months ago, we'd have other people saying "All the best cards were released way to early!" So really there is no winning

Oh, no, don't bring back those flashbacks! Those programs were such a grind that I couldn't complete any of the immortals. Highest I could do was the career arcs, and even those took a while.
-
I think there plenty of great cards already out. I can make a dozen all 97-99 different teams.
That said, I wish I had my 99 Albert Pujols. The 97 is great but like, 99 is 2 more hahahaha.

And if they had dropped them back in July or August....people probably would have made posts complaining how "this game has run it's course, baseball is over and they have already dropped most of their content".
I personally applaud SDS for holding off, clearly there are still some cards like Babe, Griffey and Puckett they likely will drop....how else are you going to keep people involved once baseball is over. But, i personally don't see how you can just flat out stop playing this game just because the season is over, but thats a "you" preference
-
I agree. Baseball season is over. It’s too late for Griffey jr.
-
Foxx, Griffey, Pujols, Guidry, etc have higher diamonds and just waiting on that 99. I realize I may be wrong on this, but others like Ruth, Puckett, Marichal have just lower rated diamonds that can be used, even this late in the cycle.

Ha ha. Glad I wasn't that much into DD until '19!

Just drop all the 99 legends at launch with different programs/collections that would be very difficult to complete. People could choose which ones they wanted to go for.
Keep sprinkling in the moments, all-star, postseason, finest 99s throughout the year to keep it interesting.
Problem Solved.

Except not really, because that's not a good way to drive revenue, Having multiple points in the year where you drop the big legend cards brings people back

Remember 2017 when the Griffey program wasn’t able to be completed til June. Picture something like that. Maybe not as hard to obtain. Obsessed people could grind their hearts out and normal people could pick who they want to grind for.
I know you love being right and playing devils advocate, but it is ludicrous that the season is over and Griffey hasn’t dropped.

My first comment on this thread was about it being wrong that Griffey isn't out yet. I'm merely stating that that idea wouldn't interest SDS, the last time they attempted something like that was in 2018, then they revamped content and we've had variations on the same kind of idea since 19, so I'd say the money is telling them that it's working.
Also, nowadays people will find some way to get it on day one, it seems that way for any grind now, no matter how hard it may seem on the surface.

There are other ways to keep interest in the off-season….look at Golden Tickets in Madden….or off-season movers……more prospect cards…..giving 99s to players via different promos. Take Buxton for example…he could use a refresh.

I dont remember exactly how they did it, but the first person wasn’t able to get 99 Griffey til June the year he was the cover athlete.

Sure, but tbh, even though 17 wasn't that long ago, it kinda is in gaming terms. Now it's all about finding the exploits or tricks to speed through something.

If someone wants to play 5000 games against the cpu to get huge stat missions accomplished….more power to them. Normal people will have something to work on for a good amount of time.

So you are saying you would trust SDS to release something like this and not overlook something that makes it way easier to grind either through glitches or overlooked game mechanics? Because I don't.
