If they were to ever release a NCAA Baseball game, whether it be SDS, 2K or EA would you buy it over The Show?.

Gameplay is what matters...if it has better gameplay I would be all for it. DD is fun because of using former and current players I love, but I love college baseball too and if it was designed right I would be all for it. There just isn't the market for it. EA did it back when they lost the MLB License and just used the existing engine, but I think I probably bought most of the copies they sold.

Definitely not. College baseball in general doesn't excite me in the slightest tbh. I follow some of the best players in college leading up to the MLB draft(Jack Leiter for example), but 95% of the dudes that play college baseball no one has even heard of, let alone wants to play as them in a video game.

EA did release NCAA Baseball in 2006 after EA MVP Baseball 2004 & 2005. However EA lost the MLB Licensing & chose to release NCAA Baseball in 2006 which tanked BIG TIME. That's when EA gave up on Baseball entirely.

The drawback with NCAA is that all the players will be fictitious. No One likes that or wants that. To use REAL College players they would need to pay them in order to use their name & likeness within the game. The game may not be profitable enough for such a huge cost to put out.

    This.

I’m all for a better game and game play but how can I get excited about a new card that has zero real life relevance to me? I know it’s small of me and every digital card is what ever we want to perceive it to be. But I don’t want to play with or against nameless players. It ruins the fantasy aspect.

I just want to make it clear, this isn’t a post to criticize The Show, or claim that an NCAA game would have better gameplay etc. Just wanted to see if a game like that would interest The Show community.

What I do remember from EA NCAA Baseball which I did like & found to be very interesting was how you had to recruit every year out of High School & convince them why they should accept your College/University & play for your team. You had to rebuild every year due to Seniors graduating. The concept with how they did that was very good. But again all players were fictitious which made me lose interest too quickly. Many of the name were just recycled after 4 seasons. The game play itself was a clone of MVP Baseball 2005, only difference it was Colleges instead of MLB teams & went by College rules & recruiting process.

Yeah, the game was fun to me, but its such a niche market it wouldn't sell well. With NIL deals it could be the actual players now, but it would not be worth the cost to a developer even though College ball has gained popularity.

I remember playing NCAA Football back before gaming systems could go online, and sometimes I would Google the roster of the team I was using so I could manually add all the names myself. Under the current rules, could a developer theoretically leave names and likenesses out of their game but include the ability to edit players like that without having to pay them for rights?

Make a version of MLBTS with all Japanese or Korean Leagues and I'll be the first one in line. And the Daily Missions would be great:
