Are there many retirees that play MLBTS?
-
Just curious because I've been retired since 2016 and play the show quite a bit. I know of a couple "old guys" that play and was wondering how many are really out there.
-
I'm not retired. But I am up there in age & easily older then probably 80% of MLBTS players. I'm hitting 51yo this year. Been playing video games going back to the Quarter Arcades & the Atari 2600. Played on every system since then (with exception of PS5 & Xbox Series X ... still waiting for the price to drop down much more). I am 1 of those that never outgrew playing video games. I am a true gamer.
So do NOT feel weird or alone. There are more like us out there. However within the minority. LOL
-
Heh. I knew I was in the minority.
I was never really a gamer. We had PlayStations and Nintendos for our kids but I rarely had time to sit down and play them (I would set time aside and play with them every now and then though). I was introduced to MLBTS in 2008 but never upgraded it or played it that much (our boys did though). I started playing regularly (well, maybe 3-4 hours a week on Franchise) in 2017. This is the first year that I've spent A LOT of time on the game because I started playing DD. I've tried playing online a few times, but I do not have the skill to enjoy it there with all the young'uns.
It is a fun game and I love playing with the old-time players (and a few of the current ones too).

Good for you! I retired early too (at 55) and haven't looked back since.
So, there are at least three retirees here (I know of another who hasn't chimed in here).
-
Ugh. Only 22 more years until retirement.
-
Semi retired 48 year old that play-ed this game.
I say semi, as I run technology at a private Catholic Grade and middle school currently. Covid caused them some staffing issues and I stepped in.
Haven't logged in the last two weeks because of the state of play. Also have spent at least $1000 less than years past. Don't even think I've played 75+ ranked games yet.
Content has been pretty good this year. Customer service has been outright atrocious. I've received better customer service from Microsoft and Apple this year. That's saying a lot.
I digress...

40 , 17 years left

There is just no way to say how sad this statement is!!!!!!

You'll get there before you know it. I spent the last 6 months of my employment with a countdown calendar at my cubicle. Nobody thought I was serious until I didn't show up for work on my first day of retirement...that was funny.

I wasn't joking either.
Spend $99 with MLB, took 2.5 months for a reply and they screwed it up twice in 3 days before finally getting it right.
My 14 year old spent money with his debit card on fortnite, I was able to get refunded in under 2 hours. With Microsoft. I even got credit back for stuff bought longer than 14 days ....
Also, apple store refunded a similar experience with digital currency and gave me resolution in under 6 hours.
I was used to 2-3 days with MLB. 2-3 months is ridiculous.
-
I know you weren't kidding.
Back in the 90's and early 2000's, though, MS and Apple support was some of the worst on the planet. This year, SDS has made those times seem like a walk in the park.
-
I've even been able to get Microsoft to call me back about our school's education domain. Like human being, English first language type customer service.

Once I hit 35 years, it’s day to day. If someone ticks me off enough, I’m filing out the paperwork to retire that day and do a Scarface quitting his job in Half Baked.

Woo! I'm 57. Not retired quite yet. When I do, I will become a full-time streamer. I know there are millions of MLBTS players who would like to watch me crack 600 in RS.

45 here and I thought I was too old for video games
-
The world will try and make you believe that. LOL.

Never too old for something you enjoy (well, as long as it's legal).
At 57, I will be leaving in a few minutes to go play a couple hours of volleyball with my friends and then later, at 11:00 pm, I will sit down for an hour or two with the new Guardians of the Galaxy game.

They will have to pry the controller from my cold dead hands.
