Is pinpoint THAT much better than meter?
-
I’ve always considered myself pretty solid when it comes to pitching, it’s kept me in most games and is frankly the only reason i am an above .500 player since 2015.
I’ve ONLY used meter pitching since i started playing, but I hear non stop how good pinpoint is….is it something you guys would recommend taking a stab at? Is it really that much better?

I use meter as well since I am old school. I do know that when I get DeGrom to 110 or so pitches he is tired. From what I read on these boards, if you are using pinpoint, he is still in the green up to 140 pitches or more. So it definitely makes a difference in stamina.

Still use Meter as well. Tried Pinpoint for a bit earlier this year but it just wasn’t fun for me. It’s like having to play a dumb mini-game every pitch drawing pictures. Using Meter definitely causes me to hang the occasional pitch but it also helps me enjoy the game more so there’s that.

I’ve been using pure analog just fine all year.. haven’t tried pinpoint or meter but realistically you could have success with each of them

Pinpoint is king.

I don't use pinpoint because I lack the time and the motivation to learn how to use it effectively. I tried it for a few minutes and realized that it would take more practice then I wanted to bother with so I went back to meter. I feel like I'm pretty good with meter, so it's easier to just stick with what I know.

Pinpoint really doesn't take long to pickup in my opinion. Really just a few conquest games and I felt like I had a good enough feel to use it. It has been well worth it...the command and stamina are huge.
I will say that since the update, pinpoint is a mixed bag for me. It is still great for me offline and in BR, but in the Event I can't get a good release to save my life. I am just hanging everything. I can't figure out why I am so much worse with better pitchers in the Event than I am in BR with silvers.

i've been playing the show since the beginning..meter is what i learned and what i'm use to...
i agree on like a mini game - just stupid - the movement doesn't even replicate a pitch

100%, get pinpoint down, and you are going to be 10x better (it did for me atleast)

Before this year I had only ever used meter. I tried pinpoint at the beginning of this year and didn't understand it so I stayed with meter. After a month or so I decided to give pinpoint another try and it took me a few conquest games to get down. The benefit is huge. You have way more control and can dot pitches much more consistently. It really isn't that hard to master and if you wanna play at high levels online it is a must.
-
They really need to fix pinpoint and stamina. There is no reason for a pitcher to have 0 energy and still be able to consistently dot corners. It's kind of an unfair advantage, but it is what it is. You win some, you lose some. I'll stick with the inaccurate metered pitching.

I did the same exact thing, definitely is very helpful once you get it down.

I always used meter up until about May this year and I just told myself to learn pinpoint. Same with zone over directional when it comes to hitting. Ironically I’m not a big online player either.
-
I have only ever used meter, going back to MVP Baseball, and I am sticking with it until if they ever remove it as an option.

Same, and I hear it's one of the most consistently accurate of the pitching controls.
Just don't hang Sliders by missing the green... -

Right?!?! Dude I can’t get the release timing down to save my life. I’m literally always .08-.1 seconds early on the release EVERY time and it always puts the pitch right down the middle. I used to get perfect releases 40% of the time or so and now it’s at like 10...

Pinpoint pitching is now general vicinity pitching.

Yeah, I like to use it in my Franchise as it produces some decent realistic results in terms of statistics, so your entire rotation doesn't have an ERA below 2.50.

Pinpoint hurts my feelings
