Your best player in Current Event
-
Pretty much what the headline says, who was your best player in this current event (rookies, Impact veterans)?
Mine was the diamond Jim Edmonds card from St Louis. I batted .735 (.727 rhp, .750 lhp) 25 hits in 34 at bats with 9 doubles and 5 homers. I remember his gold one from a few years ago that I use to love, so I knew he had a amazing swing. I just never used this card because I got Willie Mays so early in year. I posted the highlight on my IG and twitch account, I a hit what I thought was going be a sac fly to center, but the ball kept carrying for a three run walk off! Talk about a moonshot.
So I’m dying to hear what was your best card in this current event and any special moments you had with it?

That silver McCovey was pretty fun to use.
FB Dozier and the usual live series silver BR kings were fun too.
Pitching wise, definitely Oswalt and Sale.

Lol, nice to hear some guys had fun with this event.
I don't think I've detested any event quite as much as this one. Seems like the RNG/Equalizer has been pulled to the max with this one with the amount of weird hits and magnetized pitches I've seen.
At this stage, I'd much rather play vs. a WS opponent in the event than someone with a losing record who is using directional.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I hated this event as a whole. That McCovey was just a nice change of pace and something different to use that I wouldn’t otherwise. Lots of strange happenings for sure though.

My top two were probably Trea Turner and Adalberto Mondesi. Turner had 3-4 clutch bombs which I wasn’t expecting, and while his defense sucks his speed helped him track down plenty of fly balls in center that Edmonds just wasn’t reaching. Mondesi provided some much needed defense up the middle which saved me a few times, plus he is great at getting on base despite the smaller PCI. Even though I don’t steal much, both provided a distraction while on base at the top of the lineup which got Edmonds, Dozier, Gehrig, and Williams more fastballs.

Oswalt only came up once or twice for me, but I distinctly remember that he made at least one guy look absolutely ridiculous. He was so early on the curveball every time that you would have thought Bugs Bunny was on the mound. I think I had at least 6 k’s in 3 innings.

I actually had trouble with Oswalt, I couldn’t locate his sinker (not one that spams it up and in, but more down and in, I would leave it right over the plate). But his curveball definitely made people look silly!
That Silver McCovey is sneaky good! I like to pick him up in BR. He’s got a nice swing.
I’m surprised people said Dozier. For whatever reason I could never pick up his swing timing. Which sucks because he has great stats!
Trea Turner has pop off his bat. I never got a chance to get his diamond but I remember earlier in the year people would smash against me with him.
This event wasn’t too bad. I never really had that many RNG moments, maybe one or two. Just a lot of rage quits in the first if you put up runs quickly. It’s nice to use players you don’t usually use. I’m excited for the new event! Picked up Vlad jr before his price sky rockets.

I'd have to agree, I didn't expect so much rng. I went 15-7 but 2-5 to start the dang thing. Once you know it's there, you can somewhat adjust but it was a frustrating event. Couldn't throw strikes, or they were meatballs. Hell, maybe I just sucked to start this thing off. Seemed weird though, especially pitching.
Anyways, Kolten Wong was swinging a big stick for me, batted .465 and hit a go ahead 3 run shot in a tough game. Jay Bruce was another big bat too. Silver sluggers came through for me huge.
-
I got a nice 12-0 run this event thanks to Rookie FB Cespedes and the Veteran FB Edmonds of course. Also surprisingly helpful was Minnie Minoso he had good gap power and some big singles late in games to set up Lou Gherig. I lost my first two games of this event and got annoyed, came back a few days later and started destroying the ball, 22-4 overall so I have to say I enjoyed this one.

Just decided to start the event this weekend. Bronze Kendrys Morales and that Ty Cobb have been awesome for me
-
Edmonds.
And Puig!

Diamond Dozier is a stud

i agree with you it was horrible i just quit tons of times and pushed through it without thinking you spend all year acquiring amazing cards to then just play with garbage golds and silvers not my thing
the subject thread though - edmonds was an animal, silver mondesi, and Joe Ross had a 0 ERA through 9 games in the event

Exactly, RNG giveth, RNG taketh away. Had one earlier this morning, down 1-0 going into 3rd. His run was manufactured in the first, well executed. In the 3rd all hell broke loose. First 2 hits were bleeders, then a routine grounder right on the chalk for a double, a couple batters later almost identical to the double, but a triple, at least I got one of them at the plate. So, down 4-0 diamond Morrow comes in to close it out. Here we go:Morrow pitching. Posada flied out to Gwynn (F9). Cobb lined to left for a single. Walker pinch hit for Sipp. Perez in bullpen. Barraclough in bullpen. Walker doubled to center. Cobb advances to 3rd. Chapman pitching. Edman pinch hit for Edmonds. Edman lined to right for a single. Cobb scores. Walker advances to 3rd. Turner hit to right for a single. Walker scores. Edman advances to 3rd. Moncada lined to right for a single. Edman scores. Turner advances to 3rd. Gehrig grounded to left for a single. Turner scores. Moncada advances to 2nd. Carrasco pitching. Dozier grounded to center for a single. Moncada scores. Gehrig advances to 3rd. Dozier advances to 2nd.*

The Georgia Peach is absolutely killing it for me. Batting over .400.
-
Puig easy
-
LS Moncada and Gold McGRiff have been my MVP's for sure this event.
-
The King of Cheese himself, Billy Hamilton.

LS Jay Bruce and LS Miguel Sano, all day.
