Frank Thomas

I can’t find the magic with him yet. I also am struggling with Mickey
-
Mantle I’m doing okay with Thomas I just can’t seem to hit anything deep with. More line drive singles
-
Franks swing is always slow, and he's so close to the plate, he's only useful against lefties and pitches on the outer half of the zone. I never understood the hype two years ago. Giambi is the guy you need and want at first (from TA4).

He's a single machines that's why I still think Vlad Jr and Ortiz are the best two first baseman. Which kinda makes sense because neither of those two are cheap.
-
i got excited from thomas stats and my own bias as he was my favourite player growing up, but after using him reminded me how much i didn't like his swing last year.
went back to vlad jr after a few starts even though i got 3 homers from frank and batting under 300

Did sds nerf specific players? Thomas and mantle play below stats. Boggs plays way above

I will give giambi a chance and maybe put Thomas on the bench and use against lefties

I have always loved Boggs. Great gap hitter with sneaky power.

Yeah Giambi and Boggs are turning out to be my best TA4 guys.
Edmonds has been a real pleasant surprise as well.
Yup. Boggs are the real gems. Frank is a singles machine. Only problem is you can put a faster guy on first and get doubles, triples, etc. Castellanos is actually a great first baseman.

In 19 I ran Giambi at 1B, Frank off the bench. Whenever someone would bring in a lefty for Giambi, I'd pinch hit Frank. Even in early innings (3-5) if I felt the moment was big enough
Frank would make them pay. Wayyy more often than not. It's a great way to get a lot of positive AB's with him, and even log a lot of innings with him overall

I think the secret is to set the pci lower with Frank. Not sure if it is his swing or his height.

Yea I set it low and away and I hit tower shots with him. Love this card.
Larkin has been amazing as well

It sucks that he’s just a single machine. As slow as he is, I can’t afford that. He’s the first half of a double play

I got Honus at first

If you need speed in your lineup I can see why you use him at first but I feel like he would be better off playing a position where you can utilize his speed. I loved Vlad Jr and Frank but tbh I went back to Big Papi, his swing and his clutch hitting is too good to not use him, I feel like he gets at least 2 or 3 hits every game. Occasionally he will hit a tank. A lot of doubles.

Mantle, Thomas and Wagner have been amazing for me. So has Luis but strictly off the bench

Frank played every game at first for me in ‘19 once i got him through the xp path. Dude had a gold glove, NOTHING got by him.

Frank still got that platinum glove at first? Guy was the greatest fielder I had ever seen in ‘19.
