Quick pitching
-
I got a message saying the only way I beat this guy was quick pitching him... Isn't that what r2 is for? Guy had over 800 hours in this game to lol
-
I
rather have someone quick pitch than take 20 seconds between pitches
-
I really don't get the complaining about so called "quick pitching". If the game allows me to choose a pitch and throw it, then the opponent should be ready. It's a video game, not real life. I don't want to spend an hour playing one game because the opponent wants to hold the ball for 10-15 seconds before every pitch.

The idea is that normally if the pitcher throws the ball before the batter is set (in this game you can start to pitch as soon as the pitcher gets the ball back) it's called a Balk.
They don't have balks turned on for online play. Therefore there is no penalty for quick pitching.
Here is the way that I look at it: After you take a pitch or hit the ball, your PCI automatically reverts back to the center of the strike zone.
If my opponent is releasing his pitch BEFORE I can move my PCI up to track the pitch; he is quick pitching.
Thus why I will hold R2 to slow them down.
This is going to be a huge debate year in and year out unless SDS either implements a way that the player pitching has at least a 3 second delay from when they get the ball to when they can pitch. Or they decide to turn Balks back on in online play.

You don't have to hold it for 10-15 seconds. 2-3 should be enough time.

Ok thank you I just wanna make sure I'm not being a [censored] online lol

Oh I'm not saying they're holding R2. I'm saying that some people I have played will, I guess, pick their pitch and then hold the ball for a good 10+ seconds. That's annoying.

I guess I get what you're saying. But I don't think there's anything that you have to do to "make your batter set". If the pitcher is able to throw the ball, the the opponent (the batter) should be ready for the pitch.

Balks have nothing to do with the batter being set. In baseball a pitcher can pitch no matter what the batter is doing in the batters box even if he is calling for time. Only has to to do with the pitcher being set. That's why their are no balks because all that is done automatically. You can't quick pitch. People using this term are incorrect. You are pitching fast, not quick pitching.

Exactly right. And maybe I just don't understand what people are doing that keeps them from being ready for so called "quick pitching". The only thing they need to do besides be ready to hit, can be accomplished by pausing, quick menu, or holding the dreaded R2. If you're not doing anything to halt the pitch, then you shouldn't be complaining about the opponent pitching too fast.

Funny, when sds made changes to r2 they specifically said it was to combat ppl who quick pitch. So is sds wrong using this term?

It may be done automatically but you can definitely pitch before the pitcher is set. 90% of pitches thrown online are actually balks.

There are a couple of pitchers with animations that are a bit glitchy in that if the user is pitching as fast as possible, the game renders the windup in such a way that it skips a bit of the complete motion.
Personally, I find this difficult, but I have found that it is generally not being used as an intentional exploit.
It is just your opponent trying to get through the game quickly.

I don't know about you but if I have to wait ten seconds for a pitch I'm more likely to swing do I figured in doing them a favor all u gotta do is hot s button and if I'm going to fast just hit r2
-
The faster they pitch, the faster I hit... ¯_(ツ)_/¯
