I do wish we could earn parallel points in SD/Moments for the players we use.
-
Showdowns got me better at this game
-
Hate. But I'll do it if necessary.
-
I think these are the final results based on it
stating only 100 votes on a free pollApparently this is wrong as it is still accepting votes. Less than a 1/3 of voters hate Showdowns, in conclusion "Everybody hates Showdowns" is false.Quit whining

Theyre not terrible in my opinion. Nerve wracking though!!! I can usually get through a showdown with having to restart MAYBE once or twice? But i will say there are alot of times where the difficulty feels alot higher than VETERAN

I don't like any cpu grinds because they are boring to me. However, outside of exchanges, showdowns are the easiest way to complete TA's.

How are you supposed to get better playing a mode that doesn't reward you for good user input? I absolutely hate when I'm given a Moment on such terrible swings. Showdown is exactly the same. Where is the sense of reward? It's randomly generated. A monkey could beat Showdown
A monkey could beat it but so many people struggle with it. I think that is a product of playing on the lower difficulty, the randomness. I can't wait for SD extreme to see if the randomness reduces drastically.
Do you recall what the challenges were for extreme?? I can’t recall what that was…just having flashbacks to 3 + 4 HR missions with Yelich + Gehrig (believe that was moments extreme)

Wasnt it like only 4 bosses with nothing in between? I think they swapped pitchers outside of Pearson at the end. Could have been Sale or Feller or someone else.

Right right right, it was all boss elimination games…that future stars Nate Pearson at the end. I think I had beaten that one but passed on the moments extreme (due to said multi-HR moments)

I love them and hate them at the same time. love the concept the idea the setup, but the execution is horrible. the cpu plays by different rules, and the same cpu that handles the action also runs the opposition so it frequently manipulates it against you, if it played like a regular game it would be great, but a lot of the time the cpu is playing not the game but objectives prevention.
need 2 runs to win and start with 1st and 2nd,base hit scores 1 and 1st and 3rd,walk to load bases and infield in, that parts fine.
(but here comes cpu bs) grounder up middle that ss gets to, should be a 123 dp and youd have 2nd and 3rd and still going, but cpu makes the runners stay lead off waiting for the pitch and hitting button doesnt move them and they go home back to 2nd and get 3 outs.bs when it happened , but it happened a second time. and from other instances in my 3 attempts so far ive had 2 triple plays 4 double plays 1 run not tag on sac fly(later did score to win on that) just on baserunners not aware the ball in play.ive had 3 moments now where i n the first 3 abs i complete all but 1 of the objective only to at em ball for all 9 outs(4-5 pitch abs so i was patient and not pressing).
most of the time it seems blatant that its more a matter of luck(or not getting cpu bs) rather than skill.
I like the idea of showdown but they need to tweak it so it becomes a matter of skill rather than the mess it can be now -
Shouldn't have put "quit whining" as an option because that's what all the cool kids will pick. Should have just been "I'm indifferent".

Actually quit whining is perfect for this scenario. Showdown has been part of the show for years and it isn't going anywhere any time soon. If people think the showdowns have been bad up to this point, just wait for Extreme.
-
Can we vote for more than one option? "I hate showdowns" and "Quit whining" both sum up my opinion on the issue.

So you think any of the people that picked quit whining would pick I hate SD? I think the results would be very similar. The point was all these new topics daily that say "Everyone Hates SD" "We all want SD removed" etc. when it is not the case. It is the same handful of people trying to get attention because it isn't as easy as they think it should be.
What everyone doesn't realize is you are playing 12/15/20/25 consecutive outs upwards of 30-40 possible batters at the plate and you are comparing it to a normal game where you see 3 outs and maybe 5-6 batters at the plate. Of course you are going to see plays that seem sketch, that seem compounded by that fact that you are seeing all these plays in one stretch of hitting. It happens... Slow down, pause the game after 3-4 consecutive outs, walk around, shake out your hands, clear your head. It can be beat by average (which I consider myself) or even below average players.
A lot of people run in thinking because it is on Rookie/Veteran I can swing at everything and I should get hits. As we all have seen in online games, conquest games, etc. a great PCI and timing doesn't always result in a hit. I'll get off my soapbox but I really think people are getting in their own head and making these SDs tougher than they are.
Edit: I will add that I do think that changes can be made to better the mode but I don't think getting rid of it all together is the answer.
