Daily Moment = Who TF Makes Decisions?

SDS

So we have a daily moments for Mookie. In 2018, when he won MVP, he hit for the cycle. That is awesome, what an incredible accomplishment - definitely a moment worth reproducing.

Here is my wtf questions -- Why are we using LS series...LAD...88ovr...not hitting righties well Mookie Betts when SDS just made a 2018 MVP Mookie card that fits the exact moment we are attempting to replicate?

... these are great questions. Really appreciate the insight here. I got nothing, 🤷🏻♂

SDS

I noticed the same thing... Then made the decision to sit on a meatball and power swing. It's like on Rookie or Vet.

No clue as-to whether or not you are being sarcastic. But I do not know that there are several moments in the game that have me wondering who tf makes decisions... AL pitchers hitting v AL opponents, getting walked when we need hits, getting hit by a pitch when needing a hit. Now clearly choosing not use the correct version of a player in a moment...smh and wtf...

to make it more frustrating, I have hit the wall 5 times with LS Mookie while trying to complete the moment.

I get that I'll be just fine and will fulfill the objective, and SDS downright makes stupid-@ss decisions.

Was just about to post this. Tried the moment for 10 min and said F it.

SDS

Well, to be fair, Mookie was not MVP during that moment, so that part is technically accurate 🤣 of course he wasn't a Dodger either...

SDS

Mind boggling for sure. I just did directional pull swing. Took like 10 tries but the previous 9 tries it felt like he was swing a wet noodle. Was sure it was going to take me like 100 times

SDS

Pitcher hitting makes sense because DD doesnt use the DH.
it also makes sense that they use the existing game engine for moments instead of a lot of time programming a new system just for moments that the cpu would probably screw up the entire game on because of 2 differing gameplay systems

Um...he was MVP caliber...we know this because he won thr MVP award. The card represents his performance for the year? Bad joke...

I appreciate that you took the time to address the DH and hits/walks. IMO, it's lazy.

Lazy? How bout not hearing the bosses [censored] constantly about overtime, or about about how the work needs to get done and your crew puts in shifts and a half early in the week only to have half a crew at the end on the busiest times cause they sent ppl home to avoid OT to protect their bonuses.

2nd point is, dont you think if they did create one system that had a DH and then one that didnt (that was mostly used) the cpu would constantly be confused by the 2 different systems and screw it up constantly and render it unplayable for everyone?

SDS

Here's the real issue-

Hes trying to hit for the cycle, announcer "Mookie Betts coming to the plate, 0-4 for the day"
😑😑

SDS

Who decides to have pitchers batting in AL games (and in Moments where batting has no bearing on the goal)?

There is certainly no shortage of questions on "why" where it pertains to this series.

SDS

It's unfortunate, but the answer to many of these types of issues is the same.

Lazy programming.

Whether you are making a pizza, building a bench, painting a picture or writing code. You should be proud of what you put out there.

There's so much lazy coding, it's mind numbing.

Yeah, so I do not understand your rant about overtime? The game is chalk-full of lazy programming. That's for all sports games -- these card-collecting, mass-profit producing game modes have created a high-level of complacency. IMO there is a correlation between the two.

To your point about a system that can better understand when there is/isn't a DH: They already have it in the game, its uh...its THE gameplay feature that separates the NL and AL. Play an away game against an American League team then play an away game against a National League team -- you might be surprised with who is/isn't hitting in your lineup.

Commentator: Mookie Betts, he is 3-4 today and a HR-shy of hitting for the cycle.
(checks stat-line, Mookie 3-4, 3 singles.)
Me: I don't think that's how that works...

im not arguing with you, im amused by the fact that you have faith that they can put it into DD and get it right "with all the lazy programming that already exists."

You do have valid points about it, but then i think that goes back to the OT thing. i havent gone one day at work in the last 15 years without hearing the bosses complaining about hours, knowing that the only reason they care is because their bonuses will be lower.

SDS

but then i think that goes back to the OT thing. i havent gone one day at work in the last 15 years without hearing the bosses complaining about hours, knowing that the only reason they care is because their bonuses will be lower.

Now I get your over-time point.

I honestly believe that the developers are capable and incredibly talented. I also believe that the amount of money they are making from DD is causing them to fixate on one game mode -- the other game modes all tie into DD...Kind of how all game modes tie into MUT or FUT or MyTeam.

The persistent goal over these past few years has been: How do we (SDS) make DD more accessible, immersive...basically addicting. The result is SDS focusing on additional content and DD tie-ins when what we are asking for are core-adjustments.

Their laziness is a product of the money they are producing. Why make core changes to the game, which takes effort, when you can sit back and let 13-18yos buy packs and stubs with mom/dads credit card. Look how jacked-up Sony's board is right now: https://gamerant.com/mlb-show-21-xbox-release-huge-sony-profits/

  • Not having the pitcher hit when playing against an AL team
  • Getting HBP/Walked in hit related moments
  • Terrible hitting mechanics (that robbed us of OFM ...some fvcking how)
  • Poor quality of life improvements/disregard for other game modes

Are each a result of laziness caused by money blindness.

This one is very simple... pitchers hit in DD mode so they hit in DD moments regardless of the setting. Call it lazy or whatever you want, but that's why. Frankly it doesn't really bother me... minor inconvenience when I have to take 30 extra seconds to lay down a bunt and get out in a pitching moment.

SDS

Setting up a moment with the correct stat line going into it is easy. They are lazy.

The entire interface is available in the dev kit. They can set whatever parameters they want. They aren't though. To me, that's LAZY.
