I really don't get why everyone has lost their minds over the the shohei card. Is it a great card? of course. But it's a card in which will get 2 maybe 3 ab's every 5 games. It also very dependent on your opponent not quitting out and ruining the stamina of the card. Would it be a great card if you could actually use it every day? of course.
How to fix it.
Give us two of the cards and make the pitching one get energy while the same exact one is playing the field. It could take 7 or 8 games to get full energy. When you use the sp one then the other is obviously not on the field. It would give people options and you could use the card how it should be used. Just thinking out loud.Agreed on the hype. As in real baseball, better hitter than pitcher. As in The Show, 4SFB gonna get rocked.

TA3 degrom
AS ohtani
F. Valenzuela
Crochet
Leiter
Jenkins
CabreraWay too many end game pitchers.
There is no such thing as "too many end game pitchers". The more end game pitchers means more variety which is a good thing. Same with all the juiced up high diamond releases everyone wants to complain about. Variety is good. I dont think anyone really wants to go back to having the same lineups face each other every game.
That's funny. You aren't going to get any variety. After a week everyone is going to be fielding the same meta lineup.
only at the higher levels. The closer you get to legend is when diversity in lineups cease to exist.
That's because if a popular streamer says Alonso is the best 1st baseman, all the sheep will follow.

At least the option for variety is there. Using "meta" cards is on the individual players. Just like you could have chosen to not abuse contact swing, bunt cheese or any other avoidable issue...you can opt to not just use meta players.
I hope you're right.

Why would you need 2 cards if they make his card work correctly? He should be a SP/OF card with a stamina bar that effects only his pitching. You should be able to select in pre game menu whether to put him in the lineup, or start him on the mound.
This. Yes. Very much this.
SDS dropped the ball on not allowing this Shohei card to play 2-way.

This. 2018 immortal line-ups were a snooze fest. I enjoy seeing the different line-ups and pitchers.

Watch them add that secondary in the coming week and his price will skyrocket.

The dumb thing is it shows LF, CF, RF as secondary positions on his card

I am sure it's a coding issue. It's been in the game forever that sp's can't play the field. I am sure it's a legacy coding problem. My way works around that particular problem if that is indeed the problem.
-
I don't know anything about game design, but it seems like they could handle it without the need to give you two cards. Just code the card so that you can simultaneously add him to both your rotation and your OF without seeing the error message you get from trying to have the same player in two positions, then for games when you select him as your pitcher it could automatically sub in the highest rated OF eligible player on your bench and stop you with an error message if there isn't one.
Any coders out there who know if something like that is feasible?
-
It’s a very expensive card for no outlier. Especially considering all those 1st basemen with only one secondary position that all lines up with the top cards in the collections.

It may be, but I dont quite understand why it would be that big of an issue. You used to be able to leave any position player in to pitch before. I cant see why selecting any card as your starting pitcher would be hard to code. You can currently start relievers, and pinch hit/run with pitchers.

I am a coder but not game design. I kind of think it's a legacy code issue in which every iteration of the game has been done this way. I think it could break something if they tried it without proper testing. My way gives them a way out without changing code that's already in the game. I don't know if it could be changed when they go to a different engine tho.

All the 1st basemen? You only need to lock 2 of them, Vlad can play 3rd and Mancini, if necessary, can play LF, RF, CF. Although, I went Vlad/Alonso and put Pete on the bench. Forgot about Olson but he can play RF and is only like 10k.

You can't put a pitcher in the outfield or a position player in the bullpen which is where the legacy code comes in. Leaving a position player in to pitch is not the same.

You can move Ohtani to the OF though after he has pitched his start, right? Swap positions with your RF and replace the swapped player with your new pitcher. Not sure on this, haven't done it.

You also forgot the second biggest reward is a first basemen. So when all 3 of the 99s are 1st basemen, yea all the 1st basemen. That set did not work out well.

You misunderstood my post. I am saying you can at least keep him in all game after replacing your pitcher.

What I'm asking is, why couldn't you select an OF to start the game? All you would have to do is select the pitcher spot and swap positions with a position player. You used to be able to do it during the game. From what I could tell, the worst that would happen is the "you have a position player at pitcher" message which you could have an ignore button for. You obviously know more about coding then me, I'm just trying to figure out why that would be game breaking to code.
