You have to start your motion so they can't R2 you, so ironically you now have to quick pitch to beat the R2 press.

If you were using pinpoint pitching, before the patch, Your opponent can disrupt your pitch in the middle of your delivery to the plate. Now if they hit R2 your pitcher will not start his motion until the other person let's go of R2. Basically we can now take our time with pinpoint pitching without being trolled

They could not hold R2 in the middle of your pitch to disrupt your motion once you started. I honestly have no clue what this patch did for R2. Nothing has changed
Quick edit here: tested it out and realize what’s changed (patch notes are poorly worded)
If someone is holding R2 and you tried to start your motion, your pitcher won’t start his motion despite you holding down on the analog stick. So essentially, you don’t have to worry when your opponent stops holding R2 now, you can just let go of the analog and start your motion without fear
