pinpoint pitching

SDS

does anyone notice with pinpoint pitching now, games are really low scoring.

it's like sticky substance but in video game form.

SDS

It's almost like pitches going where they are supposed to go helps to keep the ball in the yard.

I think some of my opponents think I use Pinpoint but I use Meter, Do very well hitting my spots. I am just not good at hitting.

i suck at pinpoint and i use meter..

i'm a borderline WS rated player...
but i'm batting .273 and my ERA is like 3.50 and whip 0.8

so much tougher to hit nowadays especially when at WS

My highest this year so far is WC. Not sure what my avg is, it is probably around .200 or lower My ERA is in the 2's.

Imo the problem is pinpoint is too forgiving now. Perfect input should be rewarded but from personal experience you don’t have to be perfect to throw the ball where you want it

SDS

Speaking of pinpoint, is there some kind of bug that causes the meter to go red on the upswing of 4 seamers? Every so often, when I want to throw a 4 seamer, I move the stick down, but on the upswing, it just turns red and all the inputs are jacked up and I have no idea where the pitch is going haha

yea probably way too forgiving, even at 90% the pitches are going right where they want it

I got this a few times last night on offspeed pitches. Like it wouldnt let me continue the motion. I just decided it was poor connection or I got r2’d and didn’t know it

I watched an east coast streamer last night and he was awful with pinpoint. Constantly getting 30-60%. I would have expected him to get way more penalized. A lot of balls were just missing his spot.

As a pinpoint user that put a lot of time in figuring it out in the BETA and at launch this is what I've noticed. Because of all the nuances of pinpoint (speed of trace, accuracy of trace, release timing, release direction, etc.) and also, all the feedback given mid-pitch, the user is able to see where they mess up and kind of fix things.

For example, if I setup outside and I have a bad trace that's too fast or too slow and I know my pitcher tends to miss inside/outside based on that, I can release the pitch sooner/later or further left/right and still dictate where the pitch goes. Also, if I screw up real bad and think I'm getting a hanger, I can just release the pitch really late and if I was already set up low, I'm throwing it in the dirt.

To me at least, even with the PAR, I know where my pitch is going every time unless I screw up the release point at the end. That feels like the most important part once you learn how your pitcher throws with the other stuff. I could be wrong, I'm far from an expert, but that's the feeling I get from it. It's why I like pinpoint so much. I don't want pitches going to a random spot when I have a poor pitch. I want to miss the way it's intended to. Far too often last year with analog I miss with a late release and a breaking ball stays up in the zone for a meatball. This is dumb. If a pitcher releases the ball late, they're spiking it or throwing it lower. Just my two cents.

SDS

Also the PAR is way too small for many pitchers…if I was on the game I’d rattle off some stats but I’m sure I strike out 40x the hitters I walk with pitchers that have no business having that type of control

SDS

I don’t use pinpoint, but the community has really embraced it. The ability of some to split the black on every pitch is incredible.
