Real Life Baseball Card Collectors

I had a larger collection from 80's -90's. i got out of that and decided to just collect old cards. Had a 1914 Eddie Collins, 1960 Yaz Rookie, 1956 Jackie Robinson and a few others, Then I lost my job in 2009 and had to sell everything.

I had thousands of sports cards. Sure enjoyed them when I had them.

Yes, I blame this game for getting me back into it. I first started playing DD in mlb17, and when I saw the cards in the game were actual topps cards, I got hooked on DD and saw you could buy cards at target and the rest is history. I collect Mariners cards and have built out a huge collection that I enjoy. Dam you SDS for getting me hooked

I had to sell everything as well. But in my case most of them were from my childhood. Many of the cards I see on this game, I owned. Jackson, Bench, etc. It was beyond tuff to sell them.

I do. I have like 4-5k cards. ( after I through out about 10k commons) most are worth like .50-1
But I am gonna try and move them. Mainly 88-94 era but some older and now lots of newer ones. I have a good box of sleeved up 5-40 dollar cards, I only want to keep certain ones but it’s a pain trying to figure out how to sell on eBay or FacebookDo you have twitter OP? I can take a look if you send me some pics

I was an avid collector back in the late 80s early 90s when I was a kid but I got out of it and completely forgot that it was a thing...But like many people did over Covid, I broke out my old cards and got hooked again. I've spent a little dough Ebay the last few months but not too much. I'm sticking to just baseball and just my favorite players from back in the day and now.
I have a [censored]-ton of Kobe and KG rookies and a few solid baseball cards from back in the day but nothing too crazy. I've been buying old cards that I really wanted when I was a little kid but never was able to get at the time(1985 Topps Kirby Puckett for example) and I've purchased quite a few of the 2021 Topps Tier one set. These are the best looking cards that I can remember ever seeing and so I've purchased quite a few. I can only seeing my interest in the hobby growing to what it was when I was a kid at this point. I love it and I think that I have the self control to keep the spending at a minimum because it can get really expensive really fast...
Edit: Cr@p is a censored word? Lame...
love that!! Sold a few KG Rookies the past few months, moving over to strictly baseball and a handful of single cards of guys I enjoyed watching play in the early-mid 2000's

Try SportLots.com to sell them. I think they are better to sell most cards than eBay. eBay is much better for high-end cards just because of the money payed to eBay and hassle that comes with listing on that site.

Oh I sold them all a long time ago.

I'm a child of the 70's & early 80's & and I collected cards as a kid. Going into high school, a lot of my classmates wound up selling me their collections for a song. Many of their collections included cards their fathers and brothers had passed down to to them. I had tens of thousands of cards from from the late 1950's through the early 80's and kept them stored away for years.
I got back into the hobby about a decade ago... Wound up completing all the sets from 1960 through 1985 (baseball, basketball & football). High-quality ungraded sets. Vintage card prices really began to spike last year, so I decided to part ways with the bulk of the collection earlier this year. I listed all my sets on eBay and most of them sold immediately. Frankly, I'm dumfounded by how much I made on the sets. I listed them at 80% or 90% of the graded book value & that's what they sold for. It was well worth what I invested over the past decade to fill in the missing pieces.
I collected autographs through the mail when I was a kid too & I'm working to complete a couple of autographed card sets these days. I'm 7 cards shy of completing an autographed 1985 Topps set, including the traded series. Four of the cards I'm missing are of living ball players. Just bought the newest Jack Smalling Baseball Address List & we'll see if I get responses. Used to get an 80-85% response rate back in the early 80's, but that was before players really began selling their signatures.
BTW, I still have a 1971 Topps baseball set up for sale on eBay. Kind of surprised it's lasted so long. Beautiful set including all the errors and variations. 17 watchers but no one has bitten on that one yet for some reason.

I have the Paul Molitor / Alan Trammell rookie with +2 U L Washington and Mickey Klutts. That's it - collection of 1 card!
