just wait till the WS cards are extremely good like the 99 Sale last year, maybe Kershaw will be in RS this year and he'll go for a decent amount no matter what. Its just not as much as he use to. Also this way makes it so you can get the card twice which if they are not that expensive at least you can get it 2 times.
-
I am an incredibly average player, and play ranked games rarely...I think maybe 20 since the game first came out. I am just not a competitive player in 30s like I was in my teens/20s -- so my lens is different than some.
I do not see an issue with the Ranking Rewards/Winning game rewards. When you consider all the issues that we are seeing:
- The modded controllers
- Contact swings are OP
- PPP has way too many average-at-best pitchers dotting
- Some pitches being over-powered
There are some glaring issues that get in the way of a majority of players, and make it difficult to have fun in a competitive atmosphere. And I've said it before: the enjoyment of the competitive atmosphere should never be usurped by ones need to win, especially in a video game.
You could counter with 'but I have succeed...I am at WS level..." and my honest, non-sarcastic response is: good for you. And I genuinely mean that, I'll never reach that level. I am also not going to stress over 40 wins. And I will most certainly not stress about what other players are getting. Especially since what you earn, I could buy on the market. Most of the rewards earned in ranked seasons, events, br can be sold and the average price for the rewards is around 40k --which is pretty easy to acquire.
So: Play, have fun, want to win and understand that it is not a need in your life. Mostly importantly, focus on you. You are at a level of competition where most of the individuals you play against also earned their rewards.

Having to wait for 500 orders of 1M to be filled before you get to use a card is not good for the majority of the player base.
In my book getting the pack at 40 wins doesn’t make it “a gift”. People invest their time and effort and at some point they should be rewarded
Agreed, the benefit of making WS or going 12-0 in BR is the fact you get the reward faster which means it’ll be worth more. If people want to grind out 40 wins that a legit accomplishment especially with the ranked matchmaking system.

who cares what happens for other people in video games
Yeah, exactly. And further to the points raised in this thread, what's clear is that some people don't like the game they're playing. So 21 allows two ways to earn rare cards instead of one? I can't imagine anything less concerning to me, and I've played a lot of hours in DD. If this is a concern, the concerned users have two choices. Get over it and play, or don't.

This 40 wins garbage in ranked season. Have absolutely ruined the amount of value which should be rewarded to those who actually earn it and most importantly of all making it so much less appealing to even try to get to World Series rank.
Of course it is nothing new though when it comes to most any of these gaming companies and from a business aspect I understand it. Find a way to appease the majority over the minority and the customer base should maintain a higher percentage in the long run.
Even if it comes at the cost of competition and the will win.See you’re getting it! All jokes aside, yes! I agree. There needs to be exclusivity to some of these rewards.
Bro I have always got it. Regardless of the fact that this has now been going on for so long now it does not make me any less sick when I see it. Just a reflection of what the real world has become and it’s a JOKE! The moment I had been told they were now giving trophies to all children regardless of what place they finished that was the beginning of the end. Do they think they are actually helping children by doing dumb [censored] like that. When the team in last place is getting the same trophy as the team in first place then why even begin to start finding the will to get better and the will to win? I mean after all when you are rewarded the exact same prize why even put the effort to get better.
Calm down gramps, you're being silly. I'm usually a championship series player that simply can't compete on legend. I love the change and the market is still beneficial. The incentive for the great players is that they can easily get two and get them faster than I do/can.
Last year I bought any player I wanted from world series off the market anyways so I'd still have those players you think I shouldn't have lol.
Also, they made ranked seasons harder for players like me this year by defaulting to the higher ranking person's difficulty. Last year I could beat some WS players on hof. I think it offset pretty reasonably.
Anyways, does this forum ever really have non cranky positive posts?

Even if it comes at the cost of competition and the will win. You’re kidding me right???? You do realize that if you get to 40 wins in ranked seasons that you’re more than likely already to WS without the hand out. There are a very select few people who actually benefit from the 40 win thing. The whole 40 win goal is there to make it feel achievable. When in reality the 99 percent who actually win 40 games in a RS are the guys that are regularly in the top 50. If you expand that win total through a full year playing cycle and only play to win 40 games that’s 480 wins. The only people that get to that win total are the streaming elite with the exception of a select very few who are not good at the game but live in moms basement and don’t contribute to society. Just think about that way.
No! I could make up percentages too. You need 1.5 wins a day. Very achievable even for a bad player. With more players on this game now due to cross play that brings a million stub player down to 40k stubs. Explain that! 1 million to 40k, explain. Please
That’s provided you win every single game you play. Which unless you're elite you’re not winning every single game. Especially once you cross the 650 threshold. Winning 40 games is much harder than you think and you are way over simplifying the task. And by the way if you go 40-30 you would make WS anyways just due to the amount of games you would play. And those guys that have 150-200 records every RS month are by far the outliers in the game. They would be in the 1st percentile of actual players every month as there are millions who participate every month for at least the first 5-6 months of the game cycle.
I agree, but you aren't accounting for tankers. Win 1 then quit 2. That way you can smash noobs in the 400s all the way to 40 wins.
Once again you’re making an argument about the extreme minority. Those guys don’t factor into the point I’m making because there will always be outliers no matter where you go.
They are NOT outliers, this is the norm. Everyone I play as a record like 90 - 120, 60 - 90, 200 - 350. I'm sitting here at 10 - 12. Just don't understand how these guys can play all day.
-
Just my two cents, but you guys need to get a life. It's a video game. Stop taking it all so seriously. Use your energy on something that matters and not crying on a video game forum that more people are able to collect previously noncollectable cards from their perspective. This game is supposed to be about having fun. Boo-freaking-hoo!

Because they live in their mom's basement and have no life. I used to be like that - I worked at a movie theatre after I graduated HS and I played Diablo 2 or Battlefiled 2 online all day when I wasn't working. I had no GF, no kids, no responsibilities. I look back and realize how much of a waste of my life that was (only 2 years) but I grew up, got a family and a real job. Life is good now.

I think some of yall are just salty af because ya spent real money on your squads while others are grinding out the game.
Why be mad? I mean i have been flippin cards in the market past couple weeks and made so far 350k. Now should i be mad at the folks that instantly got their stubs thru the store? Nah
-
i do agree even though i've never eached world series. I typically dont even play 40 games a season so when I got a good amount into the 800s i got super hyped. I think I have the skill to make world series I simply just cant play it that often
-
Late in the game cycle, I usually will start to get bored of God squads and my usual Blue Jays build, and start building all time theme team builds. By then there's usually enough legends/fbs to build a good roster of most teams.
Last year absolutely sucked for that. Most top cards were not attainable even though I had millions of stubs. I remember waiting 3 months for a card, and then this game came out lol.
The fact that every card will have supply enough to drive down prices on it and will be attainable without waiting makes me very happy. -

But wouldn't this actually hurt SDS? Less card availability always meant more people pumping in money to buy stubs to get that card that will just make them the absolute BEST at this game no matter the cost.
Unless the cross platform has generated that much more revenue that they don't care as much about people buying as many stubs ?

i Think that is wrong, a player that has a 500 record stays at the AS level can get to the 40 wins. I did it the first RS season. I have not played RS since but you do have to be committed to that mode. It takes time away from completing other things. Now I will wait for a card I really want before I do that again.

I said this a few weeks ago, and I don’t see the trend going away. Everything is watered down, even LS collection. There really is nothing “special” anymore. Everyone can get everything with little effort. Look at the Innings Program, they give away so much now, and you don’t see many people complaining about not being able to get it all done.
I remember not too long ago that grinding through to WS meant something, not just a unique banner, but also a special player. Sure it could be bought on the market, but not for the cheap price we see today.
I did TA2 and ended up making over a million stubs without having to do any market flipping, and no, I didn’t get great diamond pulls either. So LS collection isn’t all that hard either.
I’m sure there will be the counter arguments of not wanting to have to put in million stub orders and waiting, but this isn’t fun either. No parity in teams or competition. It’s all about meta now, YTers share every little secret and within minutes, most player is using whatever glitch has been “uncovered” this week.
I used to love new ranked seasons, but find myself very unmotivated to play online. I don’t have the patience anymore to sit through 9 innings of every glitch/exploit/cheat that’s out there so someone can try and get themselves an easy W to go towards that 40 win bundle. That’s what’s ruining RS and why the 40 W bundle needs to be changed.
They could give WS players a higher version to chose from. They could give more stubs and at 40 wins you get to chose from the 3 cards and if you get to WS you get to chose from 6 cards the 3 from 40 wins and 3 other cards.

We could also change the rules of poker so the best players get more chips when they win. Honestly this whole discussion just seems to come down to people not liking the game they're playing -- which I understand, but it doesn't mean the game rules just get rewritten. Deal with the parts we like less and enjoy the parts we like more. Every game, every sport, the competitor has to find that balance.

My solution to this was a 30 day exclusivity period. Next season the previous seasons rewards are available.

In my book getting the pack at 40 wins doesn’t make it “a gift”. People invest their time and effort and at some point they should be rewarded
Of course it's a gift. You're not good enough to make ws, but if you play enough, we'll give it to you anyway. That makes it a gift, one you certainly haven't earned.
As for all the orders at a mil. They weren't a problem until SDS started handing out stubs hand over fist. We've had lines before, but nothing like what you saw last year.

Yeah, I was just suggesting what they could do, I like it that way it is, The OP is complaining with no solution or suggestion that is the worst about people who complain. If you are going to complain suggest a solution, and submit that to SDS. Nothing gets changed without a solution. You can not please everyone.

I think the big increase in stubs was more people were flipping cards last year.
