Hit Timing

What is the point of the hit timing meter if it does not reward you for good hit timing? I am just now getting to the Eric Davis program and have been on the 2 XBH moment for half an hour. I am probably hitting .800+ with good timing on power swings, but all of the hits are hard ground balls up the middle.
I got a perfect timing with power swing, and it was a little sinking line drive through up the middle. Meanwhile, the one time I get perfect timing with a normal swing, the ball goes about 430 feet. What is wrong with the hit timing in this game? And why does it not reward power swings?

Update: just got "good" timing on a hanging curveball, and it was chopped two feet in front of home plate. What a joke.

If it’s hit on the ground that has more to do with the PCI and the PCI placement. Take a lot at the middle of Davis’s PCI and try to hit the ball with the larger or the 3 dots/diamonds/whatever you use right on the ball. Power hitters tend to have the top dot be the largest, so you usually need to get the top of the PCI on the ball for then for best contact results.
