Uh buddy, we may not have done a lot in WWII and joined up pretty late, but I wouldn't say being recognized as a world power is overrated...
Thinking America won the war is.... And lots of people do
Technically we did since it was the allied forces.
Soviet had by far the biggest impact and paid the highest price... And it's not even remotely close.
Team effort bro. I agree that America isn't the sole reason we won, but they get credit for the W regardless because the allies defeated the axis forces.
Here is an interesting piece of information. They do not get credit for the W anywhere in the world but in the good ole US of A. Not even in Canada.
Might want to check what end you're talking out of lol.
My grandmother immigrated to the US from Dresden after the war, she absolutely credits the US and Soviets with winning the war (She was captured by the soviets and thrown on a train, later released due to her cooking skills, no joke). She watched British and US bombers "block the sun" as she put it during the firebombings.
My immigrant wife and son also give credit to both, so maybe it's a Canada thing?

Both my grandfathers fought in the war, one dying in it, when my dad was only a few years old. I am also part Russian. I don't care what one person you know happens credit the war to.. the Soviets were far and away the biggest reason the Nazi regime ended. And they paid with their lives 10 times over. This is a very well known fact. Can't believe I need to explain that to someone.
Did America put the allied forces over the edge on the Western front? Yes they did. But where were they for the first 3 years where millions were dying?
The Eastern front was the biggest of all. As millions more died from it.
Anyways, I'm done talking about this on a baseball video game forum. -
America won the war and saved this planet in WWII but that’s just what we do. We’re better than everyone else.
Sure, I’ve been called a xenophobe but the truth is I’m not. I honestly just feel America is the best country and all the other countries aren’t as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Soviets lost the most people because alot of their people starved to death or were shot by their own people after being conscripted and attempting to retreat. So if you are indeed scorekeeping, Soviets win Eastern Europe. Who takes back France? Not the French. So Allied effort by Britain, US and Canada (I'll give you a nod). Of course there was that whole other part of the war in the Pacific. Pretty sure the US played a major role there.

Oh I'm definitely not saying the Soviets were good to their own ppl. Stalin was a monster and ruled with an iron fist. Killed an unspeakable number of his own people. But they also were the biggest opponents to Hitler BY FAR!

Right.. it was just the brutal winter that did it. Not the millions of Soviets who died fighting for their home.. beyond stupid take...
Yes, they were unprepared for how brutal winter would be, and terribly planned on the Eastern front. Almost all of that was because they greatly underestimated the Soviet people never giving up. (Also because they didn't have a choice).
When you're fighting in someone's home land, that tends to happen. Ask Vietnam. -

Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, The Pacific front, all great contributions by the Canadian military....lol
Eisenhower, Patton, George Marshall, The entire British Army.
I have a knights cross from my Great-Grandfather who survived WW1, then turned against the Nazi's in WWII. His "Anti-Nazi" tattoo saved his life after the war was over. We are very grateful, he immigrated to the United States, and spent the rest of his life driving on sidewalks and scaring people because he didn't want to wait at red lights (my God, getting in a car with him was a death sentence).
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
