Why do few players in DD?

Why are so many teams nearly the exact same? Shouldn't there be hundreds of good
/great players from each decade at the minimum?
I get people using the best players available by the way, but it's weird seeing near identical lineups when I play.
Has this always been a thing with this series? I am very new, actually haven't had a baseball game since Triple Play 98.We are 2 months into the game. I think someone else mentioned in a diff thread there's only 18 95+ players so far. There's just not enough top end variety yet. As we get further into the season and more top end cards are dropped teams will have more variety.

I mean there is still some variety. Also some put chipper lead off, cleanup etc. I have Cavan biggio, chipper, trout, Ortiz, Donaldson, posada, Henderson, Harper. That’s fairly diverse for how far along we are. You can bet your top dollar If Luis aparicio or rod carew comes along you will see them in my lineup!

I’ve complained about this for years. Now I will give SDS credit, it’s waaaaaaaay better than it used to be. BUT........it could be sooooo much better with the use of current player flashback cards. They could literally have thousands of options!

Are seasons how this game works? As I said I'm new to the series. Guess I just expected or maybe hoped that I'd be running thru more lineups than I am. Guess I will wait and see who we get going forward.

I pretty much build theme teams.. start with my Jays, then branch out.. building the best overall team gets boring. Plus I won't use players I don't personally like

I know no one cares but even if and when I unlock the live series collection David Ortiz will never see the field. I’m a salty Yankees fan

They have to pay the people to use their likeness. They don’t want to pay for increased server capacity. It should be a quick conclusion that adding more player likenesses isn’t economically feasible

A plus for SDS is that they increase the ovr at a pretty quick rate so that they aren't releasing some of the best cards in the game at a point where the game is dead until the next iteration like Madden. Last year we had 99s being released in the 5th inning already and I think they might have picked up the pace a bit more this year.
Once we get to the point that they are releasing a ton of 96-98 players you'll see a lot more diversity especially with the parallel system in place.
