Outfielder Delays

Is this based on reaction attribute? Is there code to make the outfielder freeze until a blooper drops when a hit outcome is determined? I don’t understand why I can’t move my outfielder towards a ball to catch it until it is too late.
It seems like a situation where the outcome is already determined and the animation just plays along.
Anybody know what is actually going on in this situation?
-
Pretty much what you said. Yes, reaction is a part of it, along with fielding and speed.
-
Yeah dude, its based on the Fielder's reaction rating....its meant to be more realistic instead of DD casual noobs expecting every fielder to be gold glovers.
-
It seems like there should be a better way. Like to make my fielder stand there like a dummy while I try to move him is kinda primitive. So many things going on in this game that are not explained. It’s as if we aren’t allowed to know how the game actually works.
-
Fielder reaction is the reason, 100%.
Who should get a better jump. Rickey or JD?
-
It can be frustrating but there's really no way around it. If it's your Ballplayer you can counter the bad reaction somewhat by adding speed.

They should add an animation for the Fielder to break the wrong way at first and then have to correct, that would at least look a little more realistic than just standing there.

Sums it up perfectly. Nice comparison.

There is if you notice. You can see sometimes the outfielder takes a step back on a ball hit in front of him.

I have no problem with that, but delaying my input to account for reaction times is a clumsy way to integrate attribute differences.
Like if my fielder can’t move toward the ball before it is sinking to the ground, he doesn’t have JD’s reactions, he has no legs!
-
No, the games are predetermined. You can go one game and smash out 10 to 1 victory. Go to the next game in the series and you can literally watch your ball get hit up in the air and then glitch down to the ground with every single at bat not to mention the opposing team will score 10 unanswered runs and one inning while your team struggles to even get on base. The game is predetermined

there is, and that animation is wayyyy worse than the one where they just stand there for a sec

Remember the game in the arcade called Gauntlet?
The Elf will always run faster than the Warrior or Wizard regardless of user input.
OF reaction times and speed before animations are one of the few items that works pretty well this year and does not need any tweaking.

You would not have said that if this happened in a league game, buddy. This was the most insane delay I’ve ever seen. No MLB outfielder has THAT poor of a reaction time.

I've seen a lot of weird stuff. It's a major reason I'd never drop a bronze or common in the field ever in our league games.

They weren’t kidding when they said, “defense matters”.
