IRL Babe wouldn't even know what to do against Chris Sale, let's be honest.
Any player who played in the 60s and earlier would be dogshit in today's league.

Let’s stop with all this different era bs, the Babe would crush Sale!
Different era BS? That's like saying.. let's stop using our brains....
No.. he really wouldn't... Especially lefty on lefty. He would have never seen a pitcher like Sale. Nobody who threw 95-97 with a slider like that in 1920-1935.. -

Yeah because babe never hit good pitching and sale some how could get the best hitter of all time out consistently...

They set it for 1 game instead of plate appearance, so if you dont K him just restart.
You don't even have to restart. He got a hit on my first attempt, and I struck out the next better to pass the moment.

Babe is the best hitter of all time (actually 2nd to Bonds, but that's beside the point) because he was that much better than his comp.
No pitcher back then had the insane training, mechanics, science and tech that professional athletes do today.
90mph straight fastballs were the norm even up to 1990 lol...
On top of all that, Chris Sale is filthy even in today's insane standards. -

I dont care what anyone argues, if you take any all time past great, and give them the chance to use everything available to modern athletes, they would still be all time greats today.

In that hypothetical, absolutely.
But I'm just talking about plopping Babe Ruth circa 1927 against Chris Sale today (healthy)... He wouldn't stand a chance. -

You're exactly right. And he's not the best hitter of all time. I love the Babe, but facts are facts. He would be lost.

Unless you are going to share with the class when these magical changes take place. 1950? 1970? 1990? I agree that the average player from 1927 would struggle against Sale but its not like guys started throwing hard yesterday. Baseball skill….you either have it or you don’t…..or didn’t.

Aaron retired #1 in home runs and #2 in hits only 400 and change from cobb.
No he didnt have the 370 and 390 avgs of ruth. but then ruth ended up 1000 hits less.
They are opinions though its okay they are different -

That's all I said. Hitters from 1920's (Babe) would struggle against Sale. That's it.. no brakes needed..
And the average fastball velocity has dramatically jumped in the past 25 years. Dramatically.
Every sport has leaps in performance and conditioning. Baseball is probably one of the biggest examples of that.
Even in the last 5 years, spin rate is now being optimized. -

They are opinions though its okay they are differentAaron did it with amazing durability and consistency. He was not the hitter Bonds, Babe or Ted were.
Aaron 155 OPS+
Bonds 182 OPS+
Babe 206 OPS+
Ted 191 OPS+Aaron top 10.. not in the top 3.. and ya man. Opinions... This is mine...

Ruth had career totals of:
.374 BA/.474 OBP/.690 slugging %
1.164 OPS career!
206 OPS+Bonds hit 48 more HRs than him in almost 2000 more plate appearances in 483 more games.
Bonds
.298 BA/.444 OBP/.607 slugging %
1.051 OPS
182 OPS+Aaron had 41 more HRS in 3300+ more PAs than Ruth in 795 more games
.305 BA/.374 OBP/.555 slugging %
.928 OPS
155 OPS+I think many people dont understand how great Babe Ruth really was. Hes #1 in WAR for a reason.
