did Tom Glavine throw a 96 mph sinker and fastball. He barely reached 90 and used his control to expand the strike zone and force hitters to chase. He didn’t launch high heaters and low curves like a left handed Nolan Ryan but with precise control. It’s another mythical card that you want us to spend money to acquire.

SDS

Glavine reached 96....... Kilometers per hour..

SDS

Back then they were taking radar gun readings from in front of plate and they take it from the mound now which adds 3-4 mph to the pitches.
Also account for the approach, back then they figured CG maybe 120-150 pitches and threw based on that. now its 5-6 innings and 70-100 pitches max. they max effort because of that. quite a few guys in the last 5 years jumped 5+mph without building arm strength cause the change in approach.
So its entirely possible for him with a modern radar gun and max effort approach to hit upper 90s

Wanna make sure I got this straight. Tom glavine would throw 96 if he pitched today, because of the location of the radar gun.

No he would be 93-94 cause of the radar gun.
He could possibly throw upper 90s cause of the 3-4 mph difference with the radar AND the modern day max effort approach.

SDS

I think Tom Glavine would have tried to throw slower if the gun showed him hitting mid-90s

I haven't spent a penny outside of the game purchase itself.

SDS

I think when using Glavine, the ump should give you strike calls up to 8” off the plate to his arm side.

No, what he's saying is accurate. Whether or not SDS used that logic, IDK.

Imma guess no logic used. The cards are made up numbers to make them a little more appealing than the previous one, but a little less than the next one. That way people upgrade the cards with stubs they either buy or grind for. Ozzie Smith had a 65 power rating before, lmao. No way that it's based on logic

Oh...you expected SDS to actually know something about baseball?
