Take R2ing out of the game.

R2 is trash and doesn't add anything to simulating a baseball game. Freeze ray on the pitcher with the potential to mess up the delivery? It's a fail. Why can't the game just flash up the pitch history for the batter during the walk-up, and then on with the at-bat. If batters really believe they are being quick-pitched, they can request time from the umpire. (Or use the pause menu, which is brutal, but at least there's no impact on the pitcher's delivery).
Do you want someone requesting time every pitch? (For those who throw the next pitch right away)

stop making it sound like ervery1 who uses feature is spamming it.
Probably not but the feature itself is a spam device bearing zero relation to playing a game of baseball so there's no getting around that.
I've already agreed to that but so is quick pitching and nobody wants to acknowlege that. I have said if someone is quick pitching i'm gonna spam R2 only time i do it.
So what is the difference in the 2 arguements? Limit use of both istead of punishing 1 side by removing a feature when used correctly could be helpful and not doing anything about the other. That's where problem lies.
The difference in the two arguments is that 'quick-pitching' (which can mean a few different things in this context) isn't actually a problem the same way R2 even existing is a problem. By that I mean that a faster pace of pitching is something that actually happens in baseball and the batter has a few different ways of dealing with it. On the other hand, R2 is what...magic? I know we're talking about a virtual video game and it obviously isn't real but R2 is zero percent about playing baseball, and it's true purpose is obviously about affecting the pitcher in a way that can't be answered. Pressed several times during an at-bat, pressed when pitches are selected (which can't be undone). It's an egregiously one-sided, completely baseless-in-reality feature which 99.9% of frequent users abuse. There are other ways to display the information found when pressing R2, and probably more appropriate times in the gameplay for that information to be visible. You've admitted yourself that you spam the feature when you don't like the pace of play, so it's an abuse of a feature all the same, even if you feel justified because you don't like the pace. Certainly the two sides are not of equivalent standing because R2 is unrealistic and there is no answer back from the pitching side.
It would be nice to have to wait for the batter to get into the box before the pitcher can select a pitch. Would it kill to mandate a 2 or 3 second cool-down?

I don't have a problem with anything that actually resembles baseball. R2 doesn't. I would take anything realistic (batter settling in the box, requesting time) over R2. I think I've mentioned those alternatives in this thread or others.

Request away. The umpire grants or doesn't grant. At least it's a baseball scenario. R2 is... something else.

Why is this in the game? Someone from SDS explain this? Why not just always have the pitches show in screen. Just be honest you leave stuff like this in here to cater into the losers that want to play cheesy.
Stop quick pitching
There is no such thing as quick pitching in this game. Either you’re ready or you’re not. Pitchers dictate the pace of play.
Wth you talking about their is definitely quick pitching. And I don’t press r2 other than the first batter or so to see the pitches, then I won’t
"Quick pitching" implies pitching before a batter is even settled in and ready. A real thing in real baseball, but not in a video game. If it's so bad, then call time or pause. Much better than R2ing and throwing off a pitcher.
Oh you mean like slidestepping every pitch?
You should be glad when someone slidesteps. All it does is make them erratic.
Not always. The thing in real baseball I can stand with a foot out the box and make the pitcher wait til I’m ready, I like r2 for its actual purpose. I don’t like the ones that hold it either , but if they constantly slide step I will hold it til they stop. If someone does it to me I step off the mound until they stop, or throw anyway bc all it does is cause a minor annoyance but my pitch will go where I want it ( unless the cpu decides otherwise) so just step off til they get the picture or rage quit. The batter controls the pace imo, at least I did when I played. Pissed many a pitcher into a mistake....
This post is a jumbled mess.
Yes your ideas are jumbled

What about the fact that in real life the pitcher has to get the catchers sign.... not in this game, if you did ( or at least simulated it) that would eliminate quick pitching. No one automatically chooses and pitches rapidly without looking in for a sign. That’s why the need to come set or call balks, make r2 only for the first batter the pitcher faces,m

Why do some of you want games to take 1.5 hours?

Quick pitching "IS" a problem if selecting pitch fast prevents people who are batting from using the tools that batters are given at thier disposal. Which is what quick pitching does. Plain and simple both are bad if spammed there is no in between. I don't understand how people can defend one and complain about other when both are a problem when spammed.
Tools? After each pitch? Do you need to draw up a mathematical equation to determine where the next pitch is going to be?
This here is the problem. The guy explained his point of view, and you disregard it because you don’t agree (and made a low key jab at him as well).
He doesn’t want to race through the game as fast as you do. Don’t be an a$$. Just slow down your pitching half a second.

WINNER!!!
If R2 is still enabled, no. Get rid of it, I'll come set for 20 minutes as long as I know my pitch isn't being f-ed with.
-
I cant speak for everyone because I know theres spammers but I like to know the pitches and try to guess where they'll break so I can hit them

And you have plenty of time to do so. You don’t need to write a dissertation.

Is this a meter or analog thing more than anything? I have some trying to do it to me on Pinpoint but it just doesn’t work. I let them be idiots, wait for the little symbol to go away and start my motion
-
Why cant they just have it so you can tap double down on D-Pad to show pitchers selection and last pitchs thrown to the batter and have a 2 second timer, 2 seconds is more than enough to see the areas they throw unless your blind

99% of the R2 spammers arent trying to get you to slow down pitchs , Theyre trying to make you mess up the motion/analog timing so you throw accident;y throw a changup or fastball near the middle

Okay, at least hear me out here. I think that R2 should stay in the game. People that complain about quick pitching are literally trolls and it's quite possibly the lamest excuse to keep this in the game. It's not like you are at a complete disadvantage if someone throws quicker because they want the game to go by faster. I think that if not used after every single pitch, it's really nice to see how the current at-bat is going, and how the previous at-bat went with a certain player. Also, sometimes you don't really catch which pitches a pitcher has, so you can see that, as well as their pitch speeds. Even sometimes I hold it if I'm struggling and I'm trying to throw my guy out of rhythm.(Don't crucify me, I only will do it for a couple of pitches later in the game)
When you're using pinpoint and someone holds it/ spamming it, and it screws up your pitch input, that is complete bs, but I'm not really sure that you can counter that. Basically, it's pretty useful when it's not abused, but the problem is that a lot of people abuse it because they like to see the world burn, no matter what their lame excuse for doing it is.
-
I don’t know guys. R2 was an issue before we just didn’t know it because you couldn’t see it. I think that the add of pinpoint pitching has made it a lot harder to reset as a batter when a pitcher starts dotting pitches that would never have dotted as consistently in past games. When you speed it up as a pitcher the batter needs to take a quick step out. Better than R2 in terms of eliminating it all together. I’ve been fortunate to play against some great competitors so far and have needed to step out/R2 with let’s say bases loaded, 2 outs , 2 strikes to get composed. Honestly, the couple who abused it I just waited on and threw as soon as the red icon disappeared. Hasn’t really disrupted my rhythm to be honest - it I haven’t played straight cheese either. To be fair, practically every online game has been events for me so far so RS may make me amend this entire post. We’ll see.
-
so based on my experience so far... the worst R2 offenders vs me seem to be xbox users
