Is there a way to add my RTTS player to a custom roster

I know I can create a player but can I just use my RTTS ballplayer?
When I do a search for his name it shows he is in league "free agent", however when I go to "player movement" he isn't in the free agent list to choose from to move to my desired team. -
Anyone have any idea about this?
