Casual vs competitive
-
Does anyone have any idea what the difference actually is? It says casual is supposed to be easy with an emphasis on learning the game.
I switched from competitive to casual just now, then played a conquest stronghold game on veteran. The cpu opened with 4 sliders in the dirt, followed by possibly one high fastball, then another three balls.
I can only imagine being a beginner at this game and facing that for the first time.

It’s just placebo. The game is not different on different modes. They did that to sell games. Everyone says “oh that’s the way I like to play”. And buys into it. There is literally no difference from competitive to simulation to casual — you pick that for no reason it doesn’t change gameplay. PAR is bs too...it’s a slight improvement from last year because there is more break and speed but it’s the same sh*t.

Haha! Yeah, it kinda seems that way. I mean maybe there are different slider presets or something...

Casual, Simulation and Competitive are merely a mask that establishes standard pre-set settings for the UI. The UI also ties in the computer difficulty level, so it looks fancy.
It's really nothing new, but rather, a different way to introduce the new players to all of the various settings, including offline difficulty.

There definitely is a difference. Casual mode the pitcher does not do what you describe above. Pitches are 100% in the strike zone. Now that doesn't mean all those pitches result in hits or home runs, but it is easier to play than other levels.

Do the different difficulty settings apply to head to head as well, or are they only for games against the computer?
