If they would make it possible for each team to setup defense before game even starts instead of menu timer, it would eliminate some of the pausing that goes on.
Like a 2 min timer for both teams before game starts and then if you didn't get whole defense set you could then use alotted menu timer to finish it when your team takes field
You can set your defense prior to starting any game. They need to add better presets to hitter types
Other position sets for certain situations have it preset you do not have to do it in game
Without menu timer being used? Where?
Let me be clear, you can take off the auto shift not sure what else you can do,They need more presets
Oh yeah you can do that in main setting of game b4 going into DD.
I'm refferring to both teams at same time setting up defenses in H2H b4 first pitch and then ready up type scenario.
Yeah but it would nice to set up defenses in the menu setting for scenarios, Then when that scenario appears it will auto to it or you can select say like 1,2,3,4, or 5 in a quick menu.
You talking like the d-pad options but available in menu? Sorry lil bit confused?
Yes, Set up scenarios in menu where you can take off auto shift. Give us 5 spots where we can set defense. Then use the D pad to select which ever option 1,2,3,4,5.etc....
Those options are already in the menu i believe. And d-Pad already has quick formations to use. I think the idea is to keep people out of menu wasting gameplay time. If option was available @same time for both players b4 start of game only reason to pause @ that point would be to change pitcher or view replay.
The quick menu in game you have to go though setting players where you want. where as I am talking just selecting a number that you already have preset which would take a second or two instead of minutes.
So you are gonna have presets for every player in game in the menu and each player gets a prest # assigned to them?
I would not say for every player, they could do that then you do not need the quick menu. I more talking senarios, LH pull hitter you can set to Auto. Hitters with 50 and below power Outfield in. If I want my SS to hold runner at second for a RH. Just examples. If I want my first Baseball Holding runner is on 2b I should be able to preset these without pausing or using quick menus. If A player has over 90 speed I want my 2B in along with my 3B. examples
D-Pad does exactly that bro. Options for hold runner @2nd, double play defense, 3b drag all of them available without pausing and going into menu.
These are considered presets. So if you are assigning it to the d-pad as a number wouldn't it stop the game and go to menu same way d-pad already does?
I think i know where you are going with this you want D-Pad options available in menu and able to setup b4 game is that the bottom line? Or are you wanting to be able to create your own D-Pad scenarios and swap them? Like an audible in madden?

Regardless of what the jumbled words say, the icon for the square isn't a trapezoid or infinity symbol.
What exactly are you trying to say? If someone walks away or just decides to Let their timer expire instead of quitting, a message pops up and says something along the lines of accepting the forfeit press “SQUARE” or you can choose to wait longer.
What does this have to do with trapezoid or infinity symbol?
I was trolling the OP that claimed they fell for it because they couldn't make out the jumbled words. This entire discussion is meh.

Ah yeah those are the worst. Let me say one thing about bunting with Bellinger tho; I used to think this is cheesy and lame as well but I changed my mind on this. You see, 9 out of 10 players in this community have the auto shift turned on because it's on by default. That's lazy and a bailout tactic handed to them by the devs (not a shift in general, but the fact that's is on automatically instead of manually by default).
So with lefty bats who have a shift based on their pull tendency, I pull the ball into the shift so often that's its basically a free out most of the time. Bellinger fits this category. So I started to try and bunt towards 3B to get on base and see if my opponent actually adjusts to it by taking off the shift. If they do, I will swing the bat and no longer get out because of the shift. If they don't, I will bunt against the shift and I'll continue to do so until my opponent makes adjustments. Funnily enough, some players never take the shift off once in a 9 inning game while I'm having a field day bunting against it. Is that me being lame or them being stubborn and dumb?
I know most people probably consider this cheesy but not me. In fact, more players in real life should take on this strategy as well. If the defense is going to play just about everyone on the left side and leave one guy on the right at deep SS, seems to make total sense to me to place the ball on the left side. People complain the shift is ruining the game and MLB needs to ban it. In my opinion guys need to get better at going the other way with the ball and taking their base hit.
Whether it'd be a bunt, or swinging the bat and going the other way with it. Nowadays everyone is swinging for the fences trying to pull the ball and continuously lining out into the shift. The strategy in baseball used to be, "hit it where they aint". Now it's I'm swinging to go deep and pull the ball regardless of how the defense is playing me. So if you're bunting with Bellinger for base hits its the defenses job to adjust at that point and take the shift off. That's how sports works, it's a game of adjustments.Yes sir that was exactly my point. I prefer swinging the bat as much as the next guy, but if I can find an easy and effective way to get on base and my opponent just flat out refuses to make adjustments, then I don't feel cheesy at all at that moment. It would be different if I'd load up my squad with Cobb, Wagner, Mondesi and so on to drag bunt and steal exclusively. Now that's some cheese, although it's extremely easy to defend which apparently not everyone understands.
100% agree.

Yea well I am the OP. First year playing DD and I’ve played roughly a million hours of it this year and this is the first time I’ve ever had this happen and I was rightfully annoyed and ranting about it. EVERY single other time someone has let the counter go to 0:00 and I clicked SQUARE they were forfeited until this nonsense last night.
I’m sorry if my topic doesn’t excite you. I feel like it’s something that should be discussed, should be addressed by SDS so losers can’t exploit it and maybe reading about it will help someone else from getting cheated out of a win.

It's all good man. It was well thought out post. People are just trying to find something to do to pass the time. This topic has been discussed alot this year and 20 is 1 day from deletion if not already. I'm sure he didn't mean any harm personally toward you. Just more of the mentality of well we will know soon enough if it's still an issue. Your good deep breath.

Just played one of those toxic losers. Bunting with players like Bellinger which is laughable, holding R2, replay first HR, yada yada.
I settle down after getting annoyed the first few innings and just started crushing him. He was total trash and only hit 2 HR both on pitches that just got grooved down the middle when they shouldn’t have. I’m up 13-3 in the bottom 8th with 2 outs.
He lets his 3 minute+ timer go all the way down to zero. The screen pops up to forfeit their game, but the words on the screen are totally scrambled like it was two messages on top of each other. I hit Square and of course he magically tricked me into a Friendly. Then he messages me bragging about it.
How can I report this guy. Waste 45-60 mins of
Peoples time to exploit something in the game that SDS NEEDS to address and make impossible to happen. Very annoying. Then to top it off I start a new game and get a Network error in the top of the 1st and take an L. Awesome. ‘21 can’t come soon enough!
This is why I continue to hate online play
-
I played 2 bunt with power hitter turds the other day and since it was an event I just quit. No stats for you abs no frustration for me . I’d rather lose an event than deal with that garbage
-
I get the whole bunting with Ty Cobb, but I’d rather swing with him because he hits a lot of home runs.
-
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met this player. He/she is all over mlb the show. Bunt dance, bunt, steal, replay, and then forfeit time glitch. Then if all else fails they quit.
These are ppl that can’t accept losing.

Really? Because I’ve had about 40 people this year alone try to run the timer and throw a friendly to try and trick me and it’s worked zero times. This has been a thing for years.
It’s not an exploit - it’s a cheap way of catching you not paying attention.

I turned auto-shift back on because I got sick of all the up the middle hits I was giving up yet always getting ground outs when I was the one hitting. It wore me down. I also don't think it's cheese to just bunt normally because that's baseball. But, people should also know you can bring your second baseman in to the grass and you'll be able to throw out the runner if they bunt it to 2b.

Yes, like I said every single other player that allowed the timer to go down to 0:00, the prompt came up, I hit SQUARE and they were forfeited. I also wouldn’t say it’s a “not paying attention” thing when the words on the screen were all jumbled up like the game was glitching out. If it had clearly come up with the Friendly Quit message and I clicked it not paying attention than that would be on me, even though it still is a joke that losers do it and that the game utilizes the same button for both actions.

Auto shift was implemented to try and save people time, I can only imagine the complaints if people had to wait for someone to adjust their defence every pitch or every time an “edgy man child” bunt dances.

Eh it's literally a matter of seconds if you know what you're doing and you can set it for the entirety of the game for certain players. But that's the problem, most people don't know what they're doing. So yeah, skill gap please thanks.

I know it takes a matter of seconds, but a lot of new players or more casual players don’t. I don’t necessarily know if thats a skill gap or just a lack of communication and knowledge about that particular feature. I stopped playing ‘20 in May, the last few games I played having auto shift on or not didn’t matter because it was pretty much HR or bust.
